I know exactly what you are talking about. I was really upset about it too. I couldn't even watch the news much after I got the basic facts. The media is ridiculous. What's worse? Is a girl here at campus was actually being a huge bitch about it. I had an away message saying "I don't want to do PChem HW" and I also mention "RIP Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter will be missed" and the girl IM's me and says, "Instead of doing hw, why don't you just write a euology for Steve Irwin." So I yelled at her about being insensitive; I mean, above all else, the guy left behind two kids and a wife, and it really sucks for those kids. im so happy to hear there are others as upset as i am!! i talk to people about it, but i guess they just dont share the passion we do about the natural world. you bring up a great point about how many people are more likely to watch nature shows, since the dawn of the 'fun' hosts, like steve irwin and jeff corwin. i wish there was something more i could do... especially to show his family support.

i hope all is well with you! good luck on classes this semester!

I was really surprised about the incident. I know I wasn't a huge fan or anything (he definitely didn't bother me though) because until yesterday, I didn't know how much he really pushed conservationism. With that outlook, what happened is a lot more tragic and disappointing.

i guess the only positive light in this tragedy is that those who didnt know much about steve irwin, will at least be exposed to him now. (assuming we get past all the media sensationalism).
