I'm waiting to see if Aggie responds to the honey she licked off my fingers 25 minutes ago. She's been acting funny the last three days so last night before her shot I tested her blood which was at 125. This is lower than normal for her before her shot, but within parameters, so I went ahead and gave her the usual 2.5 units. This morning she woke ( Read more... )

Sorry to read that. Is Aggie okay about the needle thing? I can't imagine how you do it.

For her 2 daily shots, she doesn't mind too much. You pull up some loose skin and inject the insulin subcutaneously. Most of the time I don't think she even feels it because of the gentle pinch you give her. At first I was scared I was hurting her but now it's just automatic.

But sticking the lancet in her ear is another story. It's painful and it makes her bleed. You have to get that blood onto a stick that goes in the sugar monitor and does a measurement. The ear is one of the easiest places to draw blood on a cat because the veins are so close to the surface.
