Have you ever listened to Marisa Monte? She's from Brazil and sings in Portuguese, mostly. She does an awesome cover of "Pale Blue Eyes."

im looking for something like the aislers set in portuguese. and really you think most of your mom's music is no good? I mean, it's pop and from the 1960-70s? Maybe I think it's good? Shout out some names and I'll internet them, if you can. ;)

try S.H.E from Taiwan. if you can find it, download the song 'You Are My Superstar' (don't worry, it's sung in Chinese).

finally,a post where i can shine!

hideki kaji
my personal favorite. if you like twee type/of montreal type stuff, you'll love his songs. i have a few choice ones i can upload to my site.

komeda
if stereolab made more lounge music and were swedish, they'd sound like them

luminous orange
i love dreamy 'lush' like music. very c86. a lot of the songs are in engrish (i.e. japanese broken english) but the strong guitars and melodies are dreamlike and will stick inside your brain for days.

i have a ton more i could add here but this is good to start with!

yes yes yes!!!!!

I searched real quick for hideki kaji
but didn't come across any mp3.
ok, thank you for understanding me when I said "pop" I guess I should have said "indie pop" or "twee" or whatever....
but thanks, i'll look into it some more
That would be awesome if I could hear these from your site. What is your site?

anyhow, sabsab, my favorite international label is SIESTA, always and forever more. there, you can find a great spanish only pop band called LA BUENA VIDA, as well as a whole bunch of other international stuff. i have lots i can share from the siesta catalog. we never share music, by the way.

in france, try TRICATEL.
in germany, try BUNGALOW!
in japan, try READYMADE or TRATTORIA.
