dusting this puppy off.

Guys, it would be so wonderful if I could break my longstanding radio silence with something really awesome like, say, a HP7.2 reaction post, or a discussion of all the awesome TV I've been catching up on this August. Alas! My geek card should be revoked! Let's tally up what exactly I haven't seen, living precisely 2 hours from anything ( Read more... )

I live six blocks from a movie theater, and I haven't managed to see any of the above. Except Thor. Why is it we have all seen Thor?

Also, I have to say that I am so jealous of your summer - I went to summer camp in the Blue Ridge (near Laurel Springs), and just reading this entry is giving me a powerful pang of homesickness. I can practically *smell* it...

I was jealous of my summer and I was there! It was pretty perfect, not going to lie. I've got Appalachia under my skin and I really don't see it leaving. At least now I have some semblance of an answer when people go, "So what are you doing after grad school?" which, c'mon people, I haven't even started yet, I've got two whole years.

The Thor thing is hilarious because it was just one giant hunk of cheese anyway. It's not like, "Oh, the only Summer Movie I saw was Inception" or something. No, this is: Rainbow Bridge. Loki's Magneto helmet. The many painfully unfunny one-liners. by which I mean, I totally unashamedly enjoyed it. plus, bonus points for surprise!Jeremy Renner!

Cptn America...le sigh. I would love that movie to pieces if they simply moved the opening sequence to the end. ARGH. Narrative structure fail.

Your summer sounds marvelous - certainly worth leniency on Geek Card accreditation.
And hey, you're not That Girl til you start making yarn from, like, cat hair or something. I prefer crochet to knitting personally. Maybe I just need more practice.
If I had a huge sink to rinse stuff in, I'd totally be into dyeing my own wool. Spinning, maybe not. BUT COLORS, YAY. I can dig that.

Crochet is a totally legit craft! Don't let snotty knitters put you down. They just each have their strengths. Crocheted garments, not my thing. But it's awesome for afghans and other large or quick things.

Architecture thingys are coming! Sometime! I JUST got a laptop and internet access after forever without either, so yes! Be on tenterhooks!
