The air conditioner in the shop was buzzing loudly, the tick tock of the clock echoing around the room and the smack of the cashiers gum was all that could be heard

Charles watched, worried, as Erik's fist clenched around the twenty dollars he held, his arms slightly trembling.

"You said you'd give it to me for twenty bucks yesterday," Erik all but growled, his words coming out in a furious whisper. "What the fuck happened?"

The girl behind the cash desk smacked her gum together again, and Charles noted with some distaste that she had lipgloss on her teeth, just stared at Erik, unamused.

"Sorry man, but more than one person is showing interest in this particular comic and my dads pushing to sell it for thirty dollars now." Her gaze turned to Charles then, "maybe your friend here can help you out."

Erik turned around to look at Charles a hopeful gleam to his eyes, his lips parted, ready to ask Charles if he had any money to spare.

Before Erik could ask Charles interrupted him, guilt twisting in his stomach . " Erik, I'm sorry I don't have any money on me, I left it all at home." Charles mumbled, pulling at the sleeves of his jumper and worrying his bottom lip between his teeth. He knew how much Erik wanted this special edition of Batman, he had been raving about it for weeks saving up any and all the money he could get his hands on.

Erik had turned back around to the cashier, placing both his hands against the desk.  "Is there anything else I can do to get the comic?" Erik asked his voice taking on a slightly desperate tone.

The cashier looked thoughtful for a moment, her bushy eyebrows furrowed in concentration as she tapped a finger against her chin. Suddenly a near manic smile overtook her features, her eyes held a dangerous glean as she searched Erik.

"You can have the comic for free, if you kiss me. With tongue. For one whole minute." she stated, a victorious smile pulling at her lips, her eyes crinkling in the corners.

Erik made a small noise in the back of his throat, it was somewhere between the point of shock and disgust. Charles could tell Erik was sizing her up before answering. Her skin was pale and pasty, pimples marring her cheeks. Her eyebrows were under little control and her hair was equally bushy. She chewed her gum in a way that she must have thought looked seductive but to Charles, and probably the rest of the world, she just looked ridiculous.

Charles knew Erik was desperate for this edition of Batman, but he wasn't that desperate.

"Anything else I can do?" Erik asked, choosing his words carefully uncertainty breaking through his voice, shifting from one foot to the other.

The cashiers eyes snapped to Charles quickly before settling back on Erik, and smirk curling her lips.

"Kiss him instead." she stated, nodding her head at Charles.

Erik turned back around to face Charles, an uneasy look on his face. He looked at the cashier one last time before finally facing Charles, placing both his hands on Charles' shoulders and pulling him in for the kiss. Charles absently noted the squeal of delight the cashier let out, clapping her hands in delight.

Eriks hands were gripping Charles so tight he knew he'd be fortunate if he didn't end up with bruises tomorrow. His lips were pressed hard against Charles' before Charles gasped in shock at the sudden sting he felt in his lips. While his mouth was open Erik had a managed to slip his tongue into Charles' mouth. Charles realised that the metallic tang he could taste was blood, that Erik must have kissed him so hard he cut his lip.

Charles wasn't sure how long had passed before they finally broke apart both gasping for air. Charles wiped furiously at his lips in a desperate attempt to wipe of all the blood that seemed to have spread all over his lips. He glanced over at Erik only to see an unreadable expression marring his face.

"Here." the cashier said, her voice smug and her smile triumphant as she held out Erik's new comic.

Erik grabbed the comic book with one hand and with his free hand grabbed Charles' wrist dragging him out of the shop, throwing a quick thank you at the girl.

Once out of the shop he let out a cackle shooting Charles a toothy grin. "I can't believe she gave it to me free!" he laughed before he began reading the comic out loud to Charles making their way to Charles' house

--

Late that night before falling asleep Charles placed a tentative finger to his mouth and began tracing his lips. A rosy blush dusted Charles' cheeks as he felt the ghost of Erik's lips against his, a small smile pulling at his lips. He wasn't sure what it meant but the butterflies in his stomach weren't exactly unpleasant.
