I don't know if I've mentioned Ralph in here, but Ralph is a (presumably) stray cat who's been hanging around our house for a long time now. Probably like almost a year, I don't know. At first we just saw him once in a while and he's been around more and more to the point where now he's practically here more often than he's not. We put out food for ( Read more... )

1) Nuts
2) Yogurt
3) Apples, honey and walnuts! (WOOOO JEWISH ROOTS)
4) Salsa and multigrain corn chips
5) Add some beans or chick peas to the previous and it's like you have the perfect late night smeal (snack +meal)
6) Guacamole
7) Veggies and dip (hummus, low fat ranch, etc)
8) Add pita to above
9) Peanut butter and apples
10) Pita pizza made in the oven! The oven is pretty quiet, especially if you take out hte baking sheet before your parents go to bed so that you're not rattling stuff.

Enjoy. :D

Yeahhh wow Iris's list is pretty sick -- that's pretty much everything I can think of too. I would also suggest:

- Cereal
- Granola bars (I hear the Kashi bars are pretty good for you)
- Applesauce

Woo, thanks both of you! I do stuff like yogurt, applesauce, granola bars at times but sometimes that stuff doesn't feel substantial enough. I do love peanut butter and apples though, and apples and honey sounds really good too (I'm not much of a walnut person...). I'm out of tortilla chips now so I haven't been able to do chips and salsa but I need to buy some soon...and adding beans or chickpeas to that sounds really really good. I've been meaning to do veggies too, I always have carrots, green pepper, and cucumber on hand since I've been eating salads for lunches.

I would highly suggest pretzels!

Also, about Ralph, does he let you close to him at all? If you could spray him with a very mild peppermint soapy water, it'll help with the biting bastards.

Hmmm. Sometimes I like pretzels, but I'm not usually a huge fan. Which could almost work out well because it would guarantee that I wouldn't eat more than a couple, but I feel like they'd all go stale before I got halfway through a bag, lol.

I might be able to get close enough to spray Ralph. Generally speaking he doesn't let us that close, but I MIGHT be able to sneak close enough. He'll also let us sit right on the other side of the door from him if the door is closed...I can't remember if he's done this with just the screen door closed, but if he did I could spray him through the screen. I don't know if I actually have any peppermint soap, although I might, but it seems like normal soap plus peppermint extract would probably end up being the same. I feel bad about spraying him though, he's not going to like it and he won't understand that it has any connection to the mosquitoes...hopefully it doesn't scare him off too much.

I would suggest pretzels then, because then you won't eat a million!

Huh, I don't want you to scare him off. Hmn.. Have you ever been able to handle him?

Nope, not at all. He's okay with people walking across the deck while he's out there as long as you don't get too close, and maybe 2 or 3 times while my mom was refilling his food dish she left the door open when she brought the dish in and he wandered in. I think once he came in and was eating out of our cats' food dishes, and once he sort of came halfway in. Generally speaking he won't let us closer than about 4 feet, unless there's a closed door between us. :\
