I realized tonight that in my life, no matter how hard I try, I am not going to write songs that the next generation will treasure. I am not going to write songs that will move people. I am not going to write songs that anyone but I will adore.

Therefore, I'm not going to write songs anymore. Good night and good luck.

Sir Elton Hercules John (real name: Reginald Kenneth Dwight) tried for several years to join bands and make it as a singer/songwriter. After being declined many times, and receiving very little notoriety, he stopped writing songs and teamed up with lyricist Bernie Taupin in the early 70's. They started cranking out hits and made Elton John one of the most successful pop acts of the 1970's.

I was just supporting your decision with a historical reference.

Ah. Thank you. However, there is one very important and highly relevant fact that distinguishes this situation from my own, and that is: Elton John is a SINGER! Not a shitty techno producer! What am I supposed to do, get someone to write songs for me that I'll steal and... rewrite and... have someone else sing it... claiming all the while that I wrote it?

No, because see, the people who are writing the amazing songs don't need people like me as I have nothing positive to bring to the table!
