Author’s Note: This is my first attempt at a Supernatural fanfiction. I doubt it’s any good, but ah well. Thought I’d put it up anyway.

"Don't you get it? You're about as normal as muppet character, Sam." You don't need to point that out, Dean. "You find friends because you want to feel normal, but you don't tell them the truth. How good of a friend does that make you?" A better one than you. At least I give people the time of day. "The silent treatment may shut dad up, Sammy, but I'm not him. It's not healthy.. you pretending to be something you're not."

I sigh quietly. When had my older brother grow up into someone who could explain everything? He hadn't been that way when I left for Stanford.

"You can't hide from who you are, dude. Even if you try your past will catch up, and then it'll kick you in the ass." There it was. His way of explaining this in his own sweet way. "Are you even listening?"

"Yeah, I'm listening, Dean. And it's Sam." Dean concentrated on the road a moment before looking over at me. I don't even have to glance to know he is, I can feel the weight of his eyes on me.

"Good. Now are you actually hearing what I'm saying?"

I glance over at him before looking out the window again. It's dark now and that's the only reason this conversation started. Dean needed a way to keep himself awake and pointing out my flaws was the way he chose this evening. "Yeah."

"No you aren't. I can tell by how you aren't looking at me." When the hell did me looking at you mean anything? "You always look away when you want to avoid something." Ah.. so you've finally figured that out.

He sighs and I glance at him for a moment. "I'm pulling over at the next motel, okay. We both need a good nights sleep." You mean you want me to try and sleep while you sleep like the dead. "You'd probably get more sleep if you were honest with yourself, you know."

"What the hell do you know, Dean?" I'm surprised by my anger, but I'm tired of his grilling for answers and explainations. "Just because you're happy with being a freak doesn't mean I am."

"Hey!" He grabs my shoulder roughly and eases off the gas. "I never said you were a freak, so don't go putting words in my mouth. But you aren't normal, Sam. No Winchester is." He lets go, shoving me into the door. "So don't go getting pissed off because you can't lead some normal life. It's not my fault, so don't take it out on me!" He looks back out the window and steps on the gas again.

I look away from him, resting my head against the window. Just because you didn't say doesn't mean you weren't thinking it.
