- What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
I would work with magical creatures. I've worked a lot in animal shelters and I think the physical and emotional challenge is lots of fun. I love bonding with the animals. And feeling like I'm doing something real while not having to deal closely with a lot of people as that tends to be tiring for me. It also gives me the excuse to go out and move my body so as to not get lazy. I definitely want to keep a good body through my work and working with things like dragons are bound to keep you in good shape.
- You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one Harry Potter character other than Hagrid and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that you'd want with you.
I'd pick one of the centaurs because they know the forest well. If anyone would know how to navigate a place like that it would be the creatures living there. I would bring with me a broom. With a broom I could escape almost anything without having to fight it which is helpful seeing as how I can't apparate inside of school grounds. I don't believe in fighting someone on principle if it's not part of a job. You should choose your battles; the ones where you will gain nothing is meaningless. With the kind of creatures inside that forest having the option to run away seems pretty important.
- If you had the opportunity to live forever, but your family and friends did not, what would you choose? And if you did choose to live forever, what would you do with eternity?
I would do it if I had a way out. If I knew I could die, then yes. I would use it to reach all my goals. To become the person I want to be and do all the things I always wanted to. Of course meeting more interesting people to love would also be important and a goal in itself. I do want a family, but I think you can have more than one. Grief is one of the hardest thing a person can go through, but forming new relations is possible and I think it would be worth it for all the things that could be acheived with that amount of time on my hands. Not too mention that with all the pain you would also have joy and new people that you wouldn't have met had you died.
- If you could travel back in time to one point, when and where would you go? Why?
I'd go back and spend more time with father. Ever since he passed away I've missed him so badly. I don't care all that much about historic figures and the like so I'd use it to get more time with the people I love.
- What HP character do you identify with most and why?
That's a hard one, but I think I would have to say Sirius Black. I think we're very similar. We're both guys that can take jokes a bit too far at times. I've been told I'm scary in the beginning because my humor is very mean. Similarily to Sirius when I was a young boy I often did things without thinking. I had a rough time growing up and had a tendency to see things in black and white. "Some peope are bad and some people are good and it's okay to not care about the bad people." While I tended to stay out of most conflicts I had very little remorse towards being distrustfull towards someone I percieved as being bad for me. I'm also very stubborn and tends to have a hard time admitting to being wrong or seeing someone elses points as being valid. On the other hand I will say that I'm unflailingly loyal and would do just about anything for my friends. My friends are the most important things in my life, much more so than lovers, and I related a lot to Sirius strong feelings on his friendships. In addition I see myself as a strong person and that I, like Sirius, would be able to endure just about anything if it meant getting out and clearing my name and getting my revenge. I'm very driven and would stop at nothing to acheive something I deemed as important.
- What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
I see myself as an older man. I'm wearing a wedding ring and I'm surrounded by my best friends and my family. I seem healthy and well off and happy. So does my friends. And while I don't think I would see a specific person as my husband/wife, the wedding ring would tell me that I had found a partner to share my life with. I look accomplished, maybe holding some kind of diploma as a proof of having done well in my particular field of work. I don't know. This is pretty generic stuff, but it's really the most important things for being happy, i think.
- Do you believe that moral actions should be judged by the intentions behind them, or by the consequences they create?
Both. You can't separete intentions from an action. They're both important. An old lady accidentally hitting a girl with her car and a guy purposfully driving her over should never be punished the same way. And yet, for the girl who died it won't matter. So, yeah, both.
- What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
Heh, what wasn't my ideal job at some point? :P I think my main ones was: Cook and a professional ballet dancer. It's definitely changed. Right now my ideal job would be to get payed doing any of the jobs I do for free right now. Namely work with a LGBT youth group and work in rehabilition of abused animals. I love working with both. With animals I get physically challenged and it's so much fun to see the results of the care and time you put into making them better. With the youth group there is a huge sense of belonging and loyalty. I have a hard time caring about and interracting with certain people, but when I know everyone in a room is LGBT being social goes from being a bit of a chore and becomes fun and easy. I'm a big believer that you can't help everyone so you should help the people you actually care about instead. Or just do the things you find fun, like with the animals for me. Though, obviously, I don't get payed which is a big deal for me and means I need other jobs. Money is extremely important and only people who have always been rich can claim it's not. I grew up poor and money = opportunity. Having money means that you have actual means to reach your goals.
- If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
I would invent a charm that could heal people from mental illness without changing their personality. I've struggled my entire life with mental illness and I think that it's horrifying because mental illness makes you somoene you're not. I've always prided myself in being logical, but that's all ruined whenever I get sick. Losing control of oneself is one of the scariest things to me so having a cure-all would be the greatest thing ever. I have no idea what to call it but I suppose it would involve the word "sanity" in someway.
- If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
Me in a position where I had no power. Powerlessness is the worst thing in the entire world. It means you can't protect the people you love or yourself. You're completely at someone's mercy where you have to rely on them to make the right choices regarding you. And that is such a nightmare to me. Not being able to acheive any goals on my own, not being able to take care of myself. So fucking horrifying. It would probably take the form of me as a young boy lying in a bed unable to move as people did what they wanted with me and my loved ones while discussing what they would allow me to do or not as if I weren't there. To turn it around I'd make it so they were my servants and the reason I was lying there was because I didn't feel like moving when someone else could work for me. Or something. I really don't know how to turn it around.
- What do you look for in a friend?
Loyalty and reliability is important. But also that the relationship is equal and were we both give something to the other person. I don't want to be with someone who only takes and takes while never giving anything back. It would have to be someone I respected as a person and that was honest with me. If I look ugly fucking tell me instead of making me look like a fool. A friend would have to compliment me and bring me up and help me become the most accomplished person I could be. And, yes, they would stay with me through anything. Even if I did something illegal I would trust them to never tell.
- What trait most annoys you about other people?
Self-pity. Your life is hard? No one fucking cares. Stop acting like you have it worse than everyone else. We've all been abused. We've all been hurt and betrayed and traumatized. People who act like they're special snowflakes and constantly whine about how difficult things is annoy the fuck out of me. Especially the ones who do nothing to change it. People with no drive and goals aren't worth keeping around. Why would I want to be friends with someone that constantly complains but never tries to change their situation? It's not easy. Life's not easy, but if you don't try and refuse to accept help that is offered you're just living on self-pity and it's unbecoming.
- What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
Analytical. I analyze everything. I can see most things from all sides and easily work out solutions and answers. In addition I can see the faults and down sides even in the things I love and see the benefits of things I don't nescassirily agree with. This means I'm often good at using the best things from many different situations to acheive the best possible result.
Loyal. I don't love people easily, but when I do I would do anything except die. I do not think death solves anything. But besides that there's not a thing I would not do for the people I love. If they killed someone and I thought it was the best way I would help them bury the corpse. I would give them an alibi and a place to hide. If they called me and said it was important I see them I would drop whatever I was doing and come. No questions asked. I also expect the same from them, of course.
Competative. I like to win. Always. And that has been extremely helpful in getting places. I have competed on a national level and I would never have gotten that far had I not have the drive that being competative gives you. In addition it also translates into grades and other aspects of my life. It's helped push me become a lot better in almost all aspects of my life.
Passionate. If I'm interested in something; I'm REALLY interested. I will almost become obsessive about certain things wether it be about something like dance or drawing or a book or tv-series. Or human rights issues. If I get involved I'm in it with my entire self.
Cool-headed. I can stay calm in any situation. This has been extremely helpful in situations where people have been hurt or there's been chaos. I'm not the type to start crying or running around. When someone had a heartattack I stayed calm and got people to help with nescassary things like clearing the hallway so the medics go get through. This has always been extremely helpful for me to have control over the situation and make sure everything that needs to get done actually gets done.
- What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
Cold. I can sometimes appear cold and scary to new people. I personally don't think I am, but I've heard this a lot from friends that said they found me very scary in the beginning.
Cynical. I have a hard time seeing the beauty in things. I'll always see little mistakes and have a hard time giving someone the benefit of the doubt.
Distrustful. I always assume people have bad intentions. If someone does something nice I'm constantly thinking about why they did it and what they want.
Judgemental. I judge people that I don't really know pretty easy. Especially people that appear whiny and naive.
Stubborn. I will keep arguing an issue for the longest time without ever giving up. I have a really hard time accepting when I'm wrong.
