If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? In this world, horrible things happen every day. Children die. People starve. Countries war. Terrorists kill. If I could change any of these, however, with a wish or a wave of a wand, I'm not sure I would. People have free will. People can give food. People can negotiate. People don't have to kill people. But they do. People choose to do things all the time that are evil, or wrong. But to stop them, to just make them stop, and make them brainless, will-less things... would that be any less evil? If people are made to be mindless drones to stop murder, would it be any better? I don't think so. If I were to change one thing in this world, then, I think it would have to be disease. Stop some people from dying, at least, without taking away their will.

What makes a person respectable? People are worthy of respect if they always try to be their best. I believe that if everyone did their best, the world would be a much better place. By "best", I don't mean everyone is a straight A student, great at sports, and all PhD's. I do mean, however, that everyone should treat everyone else with the respect they deserve. I mean that they shouldn't put people down just to look good; they shouldn't lie or cheat or steal or murder, because they do that to other people, and they deserve better. If people are to be respected, they should at least try to be honorable and just. I don't expect people to be perfect; that will never happen. But I do expect them to try.

What do you look for in a friend? I look for someone who is respectable, trustworthy, and kind; probably someone with similar interests as mine, though that's really not necessary. I would look for some insanity in a friend, because it is my personal belief that everyone is at least a little insane or weird (what is normal, anyway?). The friends that I have are fun, and funny. To me, it wouldn't matter if I was made fun of by a friend, because I always know they don't mean it. My friends have to endure just as much as they give out, anyway. A friend has to be loyal. My friends are the most important things in my life; I hope it will never happen, but should the time come, I'd like to think I would die for them. Hopefully they would do the same for me, though I hardly expect it.

What are your hobbies? I like all kinds of things: basketball, mock trial, reading, writing, school, board games, TV., movies, and beta reading, as well as many more that I can't think of just now. I like basketball because of the thrill. My favorite part is defense; don't let the other team past. I love mock trial, because I'm always a witness. Some people find it frightening to be up there, in front of everyone, but I find it strangely calming. I absolutely loathe playing a lawyer, though; I hate public speaking. Reading lets you see through another's eyes, into their life, or their own little world of imagination. I love seeing things unfold before my eyes as I flip through the pages. Writing lets me do the same thing for other people, though, I'm sure, not nearly as well. I like school (Gasp!) because it's the only time I get to spend with my friends. Board games are fun; they're a great way to spend time with friends and family. Some, like chess, are like a puzzle, waiting to be solved. I like watching TV. and movies for the same reason I like reading; it gives you a new perspective as well as being informative. And finally, when I read a story, like a fanfiction or something, whenever I catch mistakes, I just want to correct them. Beta reading helps me do this.

Have or would you give time and money to a charity? I would if I knew how. I think helping other people is admirable, especially if they can't help themselves. However, still being in high school, I don't really have any transportation to get anywhere. I don't have a car, and I wouldn't even know where to start. I do help with my church, but I have a lot of extra time I could also give. An hour a week wouldn't be so bad, would it? I haven't thought of this though, and I think I will ask my parents where might be a good place to donate.

What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? I really want to be successful in life. I want to go to college, get a good job, maybe start a family... just about what anyone else wants, I suppose. I want to go to college simply because I love learning. My mom is in college right now though, so I'm kinda dreading the homework. I'm a bit worried for how I'll pay for it. I'll probably end up working at McDonald's... for a time, at least. College will also help with the job, of course. I just don't want to be one of those people my family complains about all the time: lazy bums who live off welfare. I want a family for companionship, I guess. I don't mind being alone... sometimes I prefer it, actually. But it does get, well, lonely.

Who is your role model? It may sound corny, but my role model really is my mother. She and I may get into fights a lot, but she has been through so much, and she's still surviving. She is a cancer survivor, has diabetes, high blood pressure, bone spurs, a bad knee and she still gets up in the morning. When she had cancer, she dressed up as Uncle Fester, from the Addam's Family, for Halloween. She has diabetes and an enormous sweet tooth, but she gave sweets up for her health. She loved downhill skiing, but she gave it up because of her bad knee. And now, she is going back to school, to pursue a new career. I only hope, if faced with the same circumstances, I would be able to survive and live life to its fullest, as she has done.

What trait most annoys you about other people? When I first saw this question, I thought you meant petty things like people who follow me around, attempting to talk my ear off, but then I looked at other people's applications and thought I'd give you something you could use to figure out my personality. So, while I do get annoyed by too much talking, I also really don't like people-pleasers. But not just any people-pleasers, I don't like people who would do anything, no matter if it's right or wrong or even something they would do, just to please people.

What do you want to do for a living? That is a hard question. I'm in high school, so I know I should probably start thinking about it, and I have, but I don't know yet. For a while, I thought I would like to be a veterinarian. I like animals, and hate to see them in pain. This was, in fact, the reason I found that this job wasn't for me. After veterinarian, I thought doctor; however malpractice insurance is so high, and again, the reason I decided not to be a vet. After doctor, I figured policewoman, because I like helping people, but I am not too fond of paperwork. Now, I'm thinking forensic scientist or medical examiner, because I am good at math and science, and it would also allow me to help people, but my interests tend to change rather quickly, so I'm not planning my career just yet.

If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what
would you do? If my friend was attacked, I would defend them of course! I would try to fight the animal/person/beast off of him or her! If I was in the magical world and had a wand, I would use it! If not, I'd kick and punch, or if there was nothing I could do to stop the thing, scream for help, while trying to distract it!

Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? I would have to say that, given the right situation, I would. If a friend was killed, I'd want revenge; If people were in a panic and an Imperious would help, so be it; and if an Avada Kedavra was necessary to stop someone from hurting my family, then I'm not sure I wouldn't cast the curse.

What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities? I don't get attached too quickly, I am a good listener, I get good grades, I am a loyal friend, and I can keep myself entertained when I'm bored.

What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities? I am a perfectionist, I am forgetful, I am lazy, I am a procrastinator, and I tend to be distant.

Define in your own words the following key traits:

Courage: Courage is the strength to do what is right, even if you are afraid of doing it.

Loyalty: Loyalty is the courage to stand by your friends, family, or beliefs, even when it means it might cause you pain.

Intelligence: Intelligence is the yearning for more knowledge.

Ambition: Ambition is the willingness to do what you need to to get where you need to be.

Name:Heather

Age:15

What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.) I really don't think I belong in Hufflepuff. I am definitely not hardworking. I do the minimum to get the grade that is expected of me in school, I "forget" to do my homework and chores on time, and procrastinate horribly. I just don't think I work hard enough to be in that house.

Where did you find out about us? One of my lj friends (semirhage527) had you listed, and I thought I would check this out.
