Would you be so kind as to Sort Me?

Aug 31, 2005 20:33

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? All the fighting. It's all unnecessary. We all have the same common goal, to live happily ever after, it's just everyone's happily ever after is different.

What makes a person respectable?

-Intelligence: You can't really get anywhere without some form of intelligence. Even those that are not educated have some sort of intelligence on some level that make them a piece of the puzzle that is existence.

-Independence: How can you take care of anyone else if you can't take care of yourself?

-Honesty: It's the best policy. Honestly leads to trust and in times like these it's a rare thing so when you find someone who is honest that you can trust, it's like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

What do you look for in a friend? Same as above. Intelligence, Independence and Honesty. I try my best to be as intelligent, independant and honest as possible and I don't think it's too much to ask that of people I call friends. Also a sense of humor is a must. I love to laugh, especially with friends.

What are your hobbies? Anything artsy. Painting, sculpting, decoupage and I've recently taken up crochet. I also enjoy reading, listening to music (all sorts) and spending time with friends.

Have or would you give time and money to a charity? I have and do on a regular basis. I've volunteered my time to helping the athletes in the special olympics. I also donate flower pots that I hand paint to the Boeing Guidance and Repair center for their operation feed drive in addition to participating in their day of caring where they go to local YES (youth engaged in services) clubhouse or battered women's shelter where we plant flowers and do general yard maintenance.

What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? I would like to finish college in a reasonable time with my BA in psych with my minor in art. My goal is to become an art therapist so that I can work with emotionally disturbed children through art.

Who is your role model? My Grandmother has been a pretty big influence on me. She grew up poor and became the wife of an abusive man. Though to talk to her you would never really know. She's one of the sweetest and most caring people I know. Her arms are always open and she's always ready with kind words to comfort any amount of pain. Her life has been less than easy and though her life would have made many bitter and cruel, she doesnt have a mean bone in her body. Don't be fooled though, she's no push over. She won't bite your head off but you'll feel sorry for even trying.

What trait most annoys you about other people? Dishonesty. Any person who can lie to you and not bat an eyelash is a horrible waste of space. People that are dishonest don't respect you enough to tell you the truth and on that note, don't think very much of themselves either.

What do you want to do for a living? As stated above I'd like to become an art therapist and help children with emotional problems. Adults have made a huge mess of the world and are continuing to do so. Someone needs to be there for the children, to help them get better. They're the ones who have to clean up the mess we've left for them.

If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? I would do my best to help them in anyway I possibly could, even if it meant my own safety. A good friend is hard to find and it's just annoying having to break in a new one.

Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? No. I would allow karma to do whatever it felt necessary. It's not my place to judge or condemn anyone. I'm not perfect, I've made mistakes, so who would I be to say it's okay to do so or not.

What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

-Honesty: I tell the truth no matter the consequences. I would rather make someone cry by telling them the truth than to let them think everything is fine by lying to them. I respect the people in my life far to much to lie to them about anything.

-Sense of Humor: I love the laugh and even more I love making the people around me laugh. I can almost always be found telling a super lame joke, poking fun at friends or playing silly pranks on anyone I know would appreciate it. If you're not laughing, you're not having fun and if you're not having fun, what's the point?

-Outgoing: I love to talk and so I'll talk to nearly anyone I come across. What do you have to lose? They'll call you a freak and tell you to get lost? That won't kill you. When I first went away to college I only knew one person and I couldn't spend all of my time with them so I wandered across the hall where I saw an open door, long story short, I met one of my best friends. Had I not been so outgoing I may have missed out on having found my pal Jess.

-Helpful: I'm always willing to help out anyone who asks me. It's not uncommon for friends to call me at weird hours for rides or just an ear to listen. About a month ago my best friend Nikki's sister was in a bad car accident. She was away working at an amusement park for the summer. Nikki and her family asked me to stay at their house so I could keep an eye on their dogs....all 18 of them. (they show dogs and Nikki's champion had just had a litter of 10 puppies) I didnt even think twice and within 10 minutes I had my clothes packed and I was at their house.

-Charming: I don't mean to boast but I think I'm pretty charming. I've been known to talk myself out of some pretty sticky situations and it's not uncommon for me to get away with some crazy stuff. When I was in high school I was in the marching band. I would pick on the director and joke around with him and he would just laugh and shake his head at me. Once when we were preparing to leave for a competition I had cracked a joke, well one of the drummers had tried the same thing and ended up having to do 25 push up.

What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

-Self esteem: or should I say lack there of. For as long as I can remember I've had a pretty poor self image and with no real reason for it. It's been a real battle for me.

-Procrastination: Even though I'll know I have to do something and I'll have all the things I need, I'll still put the task of as long as I can. It's not uncommon to find me up until all hours of the night working on a paper that's due the next day...many times it's the first time I've sat and worked on it.

-Perfectionist/OCD: I've not been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder by a licensed professional but many times if things aren't done in a particular way it drives me nearly mad. For example, at work (i'm a front desk clerk at a grocery) all of the money in my till must all be right side up and facing the same way. Not to mention (when I work as a cashier) all check, charge and food stamps slips must be paper clipped with one another and stacked with food stamps on top, followed by charge slips, checks and lastly, coupons.

-Timeliness:  My attendance record at work is nearly flawless. I've missed only 2 days because of family emergencies the whole 1 and half years I've been there, However, being on time seems to be a big problem for me. I'm usually at least 10 minutes late 3 times a week.

-Short Attention Span: I often come off as a bit of an air head because I have a short attention span. It's not that I don't care about whats going on, it's more that I'm easily distracted. It's hard for me to do one thing at a time because it always makes me feel like i'm not getting things done fast enough so I have a tendency to multi task and that often makes people feel I'm not giving them my full attention. But I would say a good 9 times out of 10 I hear everything they say.

Define in your own words the following key traits:

Courage: Taking a stand for something you believe in no matter the consequences.

Loyalty: Sticking with a friend no matter how sticky things get. Being there for them through bad times. Being a shoulder to cry on at 3am when you've only been asleep for an hour and you have to get up for an exam in 4 hours.

Intelligence: Having knowledge and knowing how to use it for the betterment of you and/or the environment around you.

Ambition: The motivation and drive to reach for a goal no matter how outlandish it may seem. Having unbridled passion to push for something you want more than anything.
