Sort Me!

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why? I would love to be a Hogwarts Proefessor because it is constant intellectual stimulation, and I love to learn. I also think it would be very challenging especially in dealing with students like Hermione, she'd keep me on my toes.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why? That would be Transfiguration. I think having the ability to physically change things is awesome. But I think that also entails changing perhaps who you are internally.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not? Yes, I'd enter my name. I'd love the challenge. I like to challenge myself to see what I am capable of.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why? I'd choose a cat. Cats are such interesting creatures, so graceful and full of character. And they are quite intelligent, too.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why? I'd most identify with Hermione. I've always been the studious, know it all nerd girl. She's also very sure of herself and her abilites, but she also knows there's more to life than being the one with the right answer all the time.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised? I would see myself with my Ph.D. finally, and working for the United Nations. I want to work for the UN because of their humantitarian efforts, more specifically because of the war crimes tribunals. Bringing justice to those who've done attrocious wrongs, while at the same time giving closure to victims' families is very important to me.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it? I would use it to move to England and finance my education at Cambridge. Of course the whole million dollars woudln't be spent on tuition, but I'd also be able to live off of my money without worry of working. And as an American, I wouldn't be able to work in the country to earn enough to live, so a million dollars would come in handy. Sorry if that's boring, but that's what I'd do.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now? My ideal job when I was a child was either of these two: I wanted to be a doctor, or a paleontologist. I am working toward my ideal job of forensic anthropologist now, I'm in grad school to do just that. So I guess I've married my two childhood ideal jobs into what I'm interested in now, sort of.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it? I think it would be some sort of memory charm, Memorius lingua or something like that. It would be used to help retain information when learning and studying new and fascinating things. I'd use it to learn every possible language I could.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
Seriously I think it would be some sort of incarnation of failure. Be it a grade, or some kind of disappointment in my life. The counter spell would me me lauging at it, and conquering my fears of failure.

  • What do you look for in a friend? honesty, intelligence, loyalty, kindess. These traits make for great friends. An honest person will tell you like it is, and I believe a good friend should be honest with his/her feelings and opinions. I also like to debate certain issues with friends, and I guess it'd be nice if we all know what we're talking about. What can I say about kindness and loyalty, we all like people who are nice and whom we can trust.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people? Uncertainty. I know not everyone is sure of themselves, and we all experience it, but excessive uncertainty can be kind of annoying.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
intelligence- my intelligence is my most treasured trait/quality. Learning is very important to me, and I jump at every opportunity for self edification.

ambition- I am very driven and goal oriented, and having that kind of determination has gotten me a lot-- it's gotten me into my Ph.D. program.

honesty- What can I say sometimes I can be honest to a fault, but I think it is important to be honest with people, and most importantly yourself.

kindness- I am in fact a nice person, sometimes I can come off as a little cold, but I swear I'm not, I just play it close to the vest. But when you get to know me, I'm the nicest person you'll ever get to meet! :-D

my unflinching attitude- that kind of goes with my ambition, I really don't like to accept no for answer, but then again who does, ha.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
I am very competitve, and sometimes it can be a detriment, because I can get very single minded in achieveing the "win"
I can be very stubborn-- I don't know the meaning of the word 'wrong' ;-)
I can also be very spiteful, especially in a situtation where I felt I was right.
with that said, I can at times be shy especially around people who don't know me.
I tend to procrastinate-- not good when writing a thesis, ha.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:
    • Courage: this is the ability to take on and conquer all of your fears, with your head held high.
    • Loyalty: staying true to people, love ones, friends-- consequences be damned.
    • Intelligence: is being knowlegeable in all aspects of life.
    • Ambition: is having the guts to achieve all you desire.

  • Name: Joanne
  • Age: twenty...something :-D
  • Where did you find out about us? just searching around

edit: Okay I've added to my app. I suppose I should add brevity as one of my worst qualities.
