If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
If I could change one thing in the world it would be to rid the world of ignorance. I think that knowledge is what truly helps make a
Who is your favorite Hogwarts teacher?
I love Professor Trelawney, not specifically because of the class she teaches, but because of the intensity with which she teaches. She wants her students to expand their borders and explore things that they may not have previously thought of. Also, it seems as if she truly loves the subject she teaches. I believe that excitement within a teacher always helps the student learn, and I personally respect and adore it when a teacher teaches with such passion.
Who is your favorite character in Harry Potter?
I truly admire Professor Dumbledore. I find him to be an intensely wise and knowledgeable man. He is intelligent in a way that makes you respect him instead of envying or resenting. Throw on top of that a bit of the quirky humor that so enthralls me and you have an astounding character.
Who is your least favorite character in Harry Potter?
Positively, my least favorite person is former Professor Lockhart. Never have I encountered such a lying, conceited, and unmistakably fake person. I could not stand the mesmerizing effect he seemed to have on all the girls and women, for they were seeing such an artificial form, full of emptiness and idiocy.
What makes a person respectable?
I think that respect has to be earned. To earn respect, at least to earn my own respect, you have to show that you have at least some grasp on reality. Living with your head in the clouds is no way to live out your life. In fact, I think it's a complete waste of a perfectly good mind.
What is your take on religion?
My take on religion is that while it's a nice thought to think that there is constantly someone out there watching over you, I think that it could quite possibly be an ancient peoples' way of explaining things that they did not quite understand. I do not denounce it when people are very religious. Everyone should be able to choose his or her own feelings on religion. Nor am I a total disbeliever or an atheist. I believe striving to make the most of your life is adequate enough, and, if there truly is a God or even several Gods out there, I would think they'd be forgiving enough to forgive a young, misguided youth.
What do you think about house elves?
I can't stand house elves. They are tragically annoying. If I had one, I'd give it a sock just to make it go away. But seriously, I don't think that imprisoning a race is logical or fair. Everyone should treated with the respect that they earn, that is, if you are an extraordinary scholar or a great master at some sort of art, it shouldn't matter what race, color or religion you are.
What do you look for in a friend?
I look first for intelligence in a friend. One of my major flaws is that I have absolutely no patience at all regarding a person without this particular trait. With this in mind I tend to choose friends according to their GPA rather than for their personality. Don’t get me wrong, intelligence can be contorted into something of an annoyance when it is bestowed upon people who think they are the center of the universe. However, the first thing I look for is intelligence and then second is a good personality to compliment it.
Would you rather have friends and family or money and success?
I have a hard time choosing between success and family. I highly value success. I think it reflects on what you did with your life. The more success, the better job you did. Yet, without friends to share you success, it may feel empty and not as satisfying. I value friends on the same level or occasionally even higher than family. Family members have no choice but to like you or at least tolerate you, for they have no choice, but friends have an option and can truly like you for who you are.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I hate the feeling of not knowing something, so I would love to improve on my intellect. I’ve probably already said this too much, but I highly value intelligence. No subjects entirely bore me and I do try to absorb as much as I can during classes.
What do you feel is your best quality?
I can read people well. Rarely can a person fool me into thinking their something that they’re not. This unique (perhaps?) trait can be a slight burden. I tend to judge people on first glance, instead of giving them a fighting chance. I don’t like to be judgmental, so I have to tune out my first instincts.
What are your hobbies?
I love to read. Reading is definitely one of my favorite pastimes. When I pick up a good book, it’s terribly difficult for me to put it down and I often read a book in one sitting or two. I enjoy writing stories. I’m not the best, though my friends have the kindness to tell me they’re fine, but I really enjoy it as a pastime.
Do you want to have children?
I do not want to have children of my own. I think that the world is far to over populated with people as it is and there are far too many children without families. If I ever were to have a child, I would adopt and I would adopt an older child. Small children are cute, but far too innocent for me. They know nothing of the harshness of the world and I would hate to see their growing disappointment as they learned it through their years of development.
Have or would you give time and money to a charity?
If the charity were there for a good cause, such as the research for the cure of a disease or to build a library or school in a poor city, I would definitely invest my money. I would not waste my money charities that seem to raise money just for the point of having it. I would want my money to go for a good, meaningful purpose.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do?
I would try and save them at nearly all costs, especially if it were a good friend. Would I sacrifice my own life? It’s hard to say. I could be noble and say that I’d gladly give my own life for theirs, but to endanger both of our lives when in the end we may both wind up dead would, to me, seem silly and unproductive. I suppose I’d have to be there, caught up in the moment, to truly know the answer.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish?
I want to be successful, truly successful, in whatever I choose to do with my life. It both scares and terrifies me that I may end up just another nameless, faceless, unremembered stone in a graveyard. I want people to remember my name and the things that I accomplished.
Who is your role model?
I can’t say that I could choose any one person to be my role model. Instead, I choose certain traits that each person has to admire. Professor Trelawney, for example, is someone I admire for her passion in her teachings. I admire Professor Snape a great deal, for his stately way of performing things. He is a man that demands respect and is easily rewarded with it because he has the intelligence to back him. Dumbledore I admire for his great wisdom that I believe only through age and great struggle will be achieved. Professor McGonagall I can admire for her devotion. Last of all, I admire Professor Lupin’s great courage and bravery as he struggles with such a great burden.
What trait most annoys you about other people?
Stupidity and ignorance, hands down. Nothing annoys me more than a person doling out untrue information upon an unsuspecting public. Or when someone who knows next to nothing on a subject takes themselves to be an expert on it. It is truly aggravating.
What do you want to do for a living?
I would like to become a historian. By learning and passing on what we have learned from the past we can make our future brighter. If the past is forgotten, it is possible to be repeated. That is why learning is also so important. Ignorance can be dangerous, placed in the hands of a powerful person.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason?
No. I would never do anything that would get me thrown into Azkaban for the rest of my life. It would be a total and complete waste of my life and abilities over something so stupid. I firmly believe that you can accomplish anything and everything while still never breaking the rules.
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.)
I honestly do not think I belong in Hufflepuff. Their character seems to be that of a more shy, reserved and complicit nature. As I am not any of those, I do not think that Hufflepuff is my house.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
1. Fairly intelligent
2. Loyal
3. Courage
4. Independence
5. Dependable
