by way of an obituary

Moly Trummer-Keys, born April 1 (estimated), 1997, died January 1, 2017. She was given up by some idiot when she was a year and a half old and named "Brownie." I fell in love with the friendly, perky, tiny little tortie through the cage bars at the rescue center, and adopted her the day I moved into my first proper post-college apartment. I'm so sorry. You gave her the best life and best death any kitty could hope for, and if your obituary even gives her half her due, I'm especially sorry I never met such a wonderful cat.

Thanks. It's really hard, and sometimes I think I should have done some small thing differently, but in the end I think I did the best I could for her, and I know I was lucky to have her as long as I did.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I know Moly was the cat of your heart. Her special qualities come through in this obituary, but they did in everything you ever said about her.

I have no doubt that she loved you, and that she knew how much you loved her. That, too, came through in all the stories you told. You were her human, her special human, and she wanted to be near you. She sought you out, she meowed quietly for you (but you heard!) and she purred for you.

I'm so sorry that she is gone, and I know it will hurt for a long time. But I am so glad you had this special cat in your life, for so long, and with such happiness and love.

When I read this post I immediately sought out Jack and petted him for a long, long time.

I'm so sad for you. I wiped away tears to write this. I once had a poodle for 18 years. I can relate, in some small way, to your loss. If it helps at all, maybe you can picture Moly frolicking somewhere in the sunshine. My thoughts are with you.
