Changmin is sitting in a room with glass windows, listening to this song and the sound of the rain throwing itself in torrents across the panes.

The door slowly swings open, and Yoochun is practically dragging his feet as he moves in, his weary frame hunched over. Without a word, he climbs into Changmin’s bed and drapes his arms weakly around his neck, pressing his face in.

“You’re drenched.” Changmin says in perfectly concealed panic. He thinks of grabbing a towel and dry clothes, but he wraps Yoochun in an embrace, pulling him close to his chest, tight and firm and protective.

Yoochun eases into the gesture, and when he pulls away, Changmin takes it as his cue to let Yoochun sit on the edge of the bed and walk off to grab a dry towel. When he comes back, Yoochun is slipping out of his wet clothes. He drapes the towel over Yoochun’s head and fondly ruffles his hair dry.

“What happened?” Changmin asks, sinking back into the mattress.

“I wish I knew,” is Yoochun’s only answer.

There are no explanations or exchange of apologies afterwards, not a trace of a question. This is no longer new to them, since so many things have already gone unsaid, since... Never mind, Changmin thinks.

Instead, whispers of fearful kisses, lip on lip, hands wandering aimlessly, throaty gasps caught in between, the rain drumming so hard against everything it touches. Changmin moves and Yoochun settles on his lap, and suddenly Changmin is kissing him, breathing in his air, sucking his lips, asking permission for a little more tongue, so tender and soft and quiet that they only hear the occasional creak of the bed. Another minute into it and Yoochun is grinding hard against Changmin’s leg, letting out a string of quiet whimpers.

They’ve never done anything more than kiss and hold hands and feel each other up in secluded corners of dimly-lit rooms in the seven months they’ve been together, whatever that meant. The kisses are a secret, they are a secret. Everything between them is something that can never be said out loud.

They are nothing more than a lie, a moment of music in the monotony of everyday, a cruel cycle of kisses and half-meant I love you’s waiting to be over.

The deadly “What happens now?” pops up in Yoochun’s head though he doesn’t really want to know, because all he wants is this, Changmin pressed close to him like a second skin, breathing out his name, fingers entwined, lips locked, limbs tangled, Changmin.

All he wants is Changmin, the not of whatever is coming next, but what he needs more than anything was for Changmin to say that he belongs to him, something Changmin refuses to acknowledge. It hurts, when he wakes up the next morning, without Changmin, just leftover warmth on the sheets and his scent lingering close.

Changmin gives Yoochun’s hair a little tug, pulling him back to reality. “I love you,” he breathes into Yoochun’s ear, hot and heavy and laden with lust.

And Yoochun knows, he understands in his heart, that this is all they will ever be.

End.
