Can't comment on your first points as I'm so out of touch with TV and stuff (so out of touch that I have NO idea what you're talking about!:).

As for the house, the wood floors ARE a lot of work to refinish. It totally depends on what you actually do to them, but it can be VERY messy and heavy, hard work. Like if you sand them, that's not a woman's job (not to be sexist here) because the machine is really heavy and hard to maneuver. I say get several estimates and pawn the job off on someone else. If there's sanding involved, you probably will have to tape off certain rooms and stay out of them for a while. Wouldn't want to do that if you were on your own clock because you might never get to use the room again (at least if you're slow like most people at this stuff!). That's just my two cents, having lived in and currently living in a house with hardwood floors. The whole thing sounds a lot like our house, actually (ours is 1936).

Sorry work is the pits. Glad you and J are on the same page about all things faith though.

Interesting that you mention refinishing floors. R and I were just talking about this with some friends this weekend. Our friends had installed new hardwood floors, which isn't quite the same thing as refinishing. They bought the flooring and installed it themselves but then paid to have it professionally finished. They said the whole thing cost only slightly more than if they would have had new carpeting installed. The main reason they chose NOT to finish the floors themselves was the issue of sanding. The sanders can be very tricky to use. You leave it one spot just a hair too long, and then you're spending boatloads of time trying to get that dip sanded out. R and I need/want to refinish most of our first floor (most of the wood is under carpet at the moment), and I looked into doing it ourselves. But the more I hear/read about it, I'm not sure I'd want to take that on as a DIY project.

I love Josiah's take on getting a new-to-you car.

Can I just say I love the way Josiah thinks. That's some little boy you're raising Pache. Congrats on the new vehicle too.

Good luck with the re-finishing. We have plans to extend the hardwood flooring from our kitchen to our dining room and when we do that we're going to re-finish the floors in the kitchen as well so they match. Let me know how the floor re-finishing goes. I'd love to know what you guys decide to do.

I think Katie is in to Tom and Tom maybe on drugs or something.
