These are on my to read list. Meaning, that I haven't read them yet:

"Down and Out in Paris and London" by George Orwell.
It seems fun, and unusual, with old world hardships. It's also been recommended as a top favorite book.

"Greek Mythology" in general.
I think it would be insightful. There are many stories, movies, [Shakespeare] plays, that have a smudge of this in them. It'd be nice to know of a base from where those people received their inspiration. (i.e. Evangelion.)

"The Egyptian Book Of The Dead"
Everything time that I've heard a mention of it, I was always interested.

here is the best fucking book ever: Die Glut by the great Hungarian novelist Sandor Marai. It was written in 1945, was pretty much forgotten, and is recently being re-discovered. The plot: two men meet for the first time in decades to discuss what ended their friendship so many years ago. It's a masterpiece, and it's a great book recommendation because you can read it in one or two days-- it's short and is a quick read.

Read the German version, cause the English one is not translated from the Hungarian, but from the German.
