Not that any of these things were going through her mind in a terribly coherent fashion, because she'd smelled the steak and predatory instinct (sort of) had kicked in.
She bounded over toward the chair and yipped impatiently, wagging her tail.

She wasn't, of course, expecting an answer. Just kind of fawning over the puppy, as one did.

But now she was getting attention, and she was about to get food! She growled happily and turned to lick Sam's hand in appreciation, and --
Now was an incredibly inconvenient moment to suddenly not be a wolf puppy any more.
"Oh," said Éponine, who looked . . . annoyed, actually. "Well, I suppose that had to wear off eventually."

She'd get to the nudity in a moment, really she would, but first she had to get past the astonishment.
