Premise

There has always been war in Plethora. If anything had existed before, it wasn't important enough to survive. If anything else had ever existed, it died in battle along with everything anyone had ever cared about. Whatever had broken the peace to cause this war had created enough hate to wipe every thought from the minds of both the Angels and Demons alike. If there had ever been anything else, no one was able to remember it.

Over time, this ignorance and hatred became what seemed to be the only thing the two opposing nations had in common. The two separated to opposite sides of the river, as far as the surrounding mountains would allow, a hundred miles of forest between them on either side. The Angels' land was known as Heaven, the Demon's land as Hell.

As the battles resumed, though, both the Angel and the Demon populations began to suffer until eventually, it seemed like both would become extinct. That is, until some unknown force began shipping in reinforcements.

Your character is one of those. They will awaken in a room exactly as they were from the point they were taken from. It will be dark, quiet, and empty of anything except a small, glowing magical scroll and a feather pen that seems to always have ink (You can pick the color of the pen~ No polka dots or anything like that. We don't want to be embarrassing any of your characters every time they need to write something.) At this point, the scroll will be blank of anything other than a contract, which must be signed. Until that contract is signed, your character is stuck there. They can wait forever, but they will remain in that dark, eerie room until that contract is filled out completely and honestly.

Once they sign it (again stressing that the signature must be the real, full name, or at least what they think is their real name. Else it will erase from the scroll and your character will still be stuck there until the form is honestly filled out.) they will find themselves unconscious again, and having the most intense dream of their lives. A dream filled with nothing but the images of war, death, and plague, where only a powerful voice can be heard.

Welcome young one, to Plethora. You are a being that I have chosen to join forces with your allies and exterminate the evil that plagues this land. Like your brethren, I have deemed you special, and now you shall fight for my sake. Fight and regain the land that is yours. Protect those that you love. If you choose, you may even fight for pleasure. I care not about your reason, but you must fight. In exchange, I shall allow you to touch the sky, and shall remove all language barriers that might hinder you. You shall hear all, feel all, and see all as I can. You must follow your chosen path until the very end. Remember, there is no going back now, and that there are consequences for your actions. Now awaken, young one, and live the new life I have given you.

After hearing this and viewing the many graphic horrors of the opposing nation, they will awaken to find that they are no longer in that empty room, but somewhere in Plethora. They will have the scroll with them, on its surface will be the contract they had signed.(Which will act as your character's first entry, laid out for everyone to see.)Now, these scrolls are magical special. Like the lights inside the buildings, they work off your characters subconscious. This means that if they wake up and immediately start to freak out about their missing companion, and this companion is already in Plethora, that companion's entries will fade into view. As your character reads it, it will automatically scroll, pause, skip, or whatever it is the character wants. They don't even need to actually think, it will just come naturally to the scroll. This also works in other ways. If your character is just browsing entries, they won't see those from people they don't know unless they want to. Your character may choose to see new arrivals or entries if they wish, and using the scroll's magic, may even speak through it with their own voice, or hear others. When the scroll isn't in use, the character's contract will reappear and act as a screen-saver.

At first, though, your character might pay more attention to the pair of rather large wings on their back, seeing that they are pretty big and probably aren't the most comfortable of things at first. The decision your character made in that contract is what decides the color of the wings. So, basically, they'll either be waking up with white wings in Heaven as an Angel, or black wings in Hell as a Demon. Despite these names, however, neither side is better than the other. None of the previous inhabitants will know what you're character is talking about if they start going on about dying and being sentenced to burn in hell for all eternity or something like that. The terms are used just as you would say "left side of the river" and "right side of the river".

Now, none of the characters may be aware of it yet, but there's a reason this war is being continued. Behind the scenes lays a higher being in wait. From an unknown place, he watches all, setting both friends and foes against each other for his own amusement. After all, why watch calm beings such as the Angels and Demons live out their lives normally when watching them at war is so much more entertaining? But when the population gets low, things become boring again, and it is for this reason alone that he is so excited about your characters forced arrival into his land.

So, who is this unnamed higher being, you ask? We won't tell you just yet, but we assure you that he, too, welcomes you to Plethora.
