If it's that and you can use a wireless card for XP (not the USB kind, the...expansion card thingy kind), I've got one I could look for. Not sure if I have the driver CD any more, but they're likely online.
We'll see. I'm just kind of flustered because it's like...not that old. It could be any number of small things - hell, next door just moved out and could have been using wireless - when they shut everything down it might have had a knock on effect with mine. Sounds weird - but back in Aus this happened a lot with wireless stuff in our large household :/
I had a slot-loaded optical drive die after like...a couple discs once. Hopefully it's just having a wobble and you can get it fixed, if that card would be any use lemme know D:.
it's the modem. both the laptops in this house had wireless issues for a while til we figured out that we had to turn on the modem first, leave it for two minutes, and THEN turn on the lappies so that the internal wireless cards can get time to connect. this is on condition computers are always having their wireless settings as "on" and of course can find that particular network.
which is another thing - we used to pick up the neighbours' network...with no firewall...oh the sweet evilness of dloading their limit to hell! make sure your network will always connect, if not you may require logging in each time.
