Completely unrelated to computer issues but went out with some of the old work gang last night (Sexpo time! - can you believe it's been a year?) and they all say hi :).

How was it? How were the dancers? Did they have the same tired old stalls we saw last time, or had the B&D crew expanded a bit more? Had the poor lads in the aprons waxed a little easier...?

Sexpo was actually better last year! There were more dodgy stalls (selling toys that looked like they fell off the back of a truck after gathering dust for 10 years in a warehouse, I kid you not) and tacky women around. It very much catered to the heterosexual male just out of the box. plus, the strip show was Twilight themed!!! *shudder* Gimli was there, which made M very happy.

You need sexpo out there, if only for the amazing snark factor ;D.

£225? Damn, I should go into tech support. Although I'd probably snap someday and replace a particularly annoying person's OS with a particularly newbie-unfriendly Linux distro. (And then watch as they love it and start asking me pesky Linux questions instead :p.)

Better drivers/software stuff can make a huge difference. Yeah, I'm looking at you, wireless in 8.04 versus 9.10.

I felt like such an idiot. I'd been looking for errors on the wifi card as opposed to updates on it - and that was where the trouble came from. There were lots of forums of people whining about how crap it was and how someone had some beta drivers that worked better, with links to all kinds of strange files - most of them .txt ones!

Admittedly the TechGuys come and pick it up, fix it, and bring it back, but all the same if you've looked at it and copied out the issues, it's a bit frustrating to have it taken away and to have silence fall down. The tech business is MASSIVE. Provided you can translate techspeak into layman's terms (something I find hard to do when I'm trying to explain things because I know a little) then you could make a fortune....you just need to be patient DX

I can be patient so long as people don't like, willfully ignore things like "don't click on those funny ads or bad things will happen again". Hell knows I hate it when people respond to honest HALP IT'S BROKEN with nasty or "lol get a Mac/Linux" (because neither of those EVER have issues, right). It's the I did something you said was a really bad idea but it's your fault it broke anyway NOW FIX IT AGAIN D:< and other rude things that I meant by annoying.

I hate it when that happens. My father still doesn't listen to the 'please don't install all those toolbars. Yes. And please don't turn off the virus scanner. I know it's annoying, but then you have to have all your music and photos on the machine so it will take longer, because you don't want to keep them on separate HDs that we picked up for you...' He's stopped trying to update to IE8 *thank god* and i'm trying to wean him onto Chrome, but we'll see. His computer would be much happier, I think, and so would he if it's working ok :x

(My favourite response to that cruelty of 'get a mac/linux' is the 'they're all made from the same parts, all that separates them is a plastic case and pretty colours)
