i've made a couple of icons, am i allowed to ask people not in the contest which one i should submit?

To be honest I would prefer if you didn't because then if they came and voted the vote wouldn't be fair because they knew which icon was yours.
But
if it isn't a LJ member then its fine.!
I hope you know where I'm coming from I just want the voting to be fair
