I love clever little Haldirin, and brave little Tharhîwon, and I was pleased to see Eowyn clear everyone away with great efficiency, and then step aside...
Lovely chapter! Little lost elfling is becoming a real person, and I like the portrait and methods both.
(I have to confess I was all beta-ish and 'light bulb moment, pshaw' till I remembered it was Dawn speaking. I suppose you have that constantly, having woven her into this world.)
I'm glad you can see the elfling developing into a real little person - and that the 'method' works as a story line.
It is quite fun to be able to put the odd 'modern' reference in when using Dawn's POV - and I have allowed not just Rumil but also Orophin and, on occasions Legolas and the sons of Elrond, to pick up the odd word or gesture as well. Like Orophin and Rumil being know to stick their tongues out at her sometimes, or the Groundhog Day mention earlier.
A very satisfactory plan that turned out to be the perfect ending.
Éowyn cleared everyone away with great efficiency and, obviously, realised that the elfling was equally frightened of her when she lifted arms to take him from Rumil. She stepped aside with a slight nod of her head.
Another equally sensible Mother, just like Tindómë.

I will post the last chapter, and the short epilogue, tomorrow.
Then I'll link to it on my journal and, slowly, post it to the usual archives...

This is not quite the end - there is one more chapter with a small epilogue - I will post them together tomorrow to tidy up the loose ends.
