This was wonderful! It really gave insight into how Giles could have become who he was in the series, and especially his response to Angelus. Nicely done!

Thank you! I had a great time trying to develop some backstory for Giles's uptight but heroic self, especially with the hints of real humanity that break through from the start.

I really, really liked this - and that it was Darla. Of course Giles had been tortured before Angelus! Great stuff. :)

Thanks! Giles is so impressive in Becoming; I suppose it would be more heroic if he could just naturally withstand Angelus, but it seemed right that he had had some experience of horrible situations. Giles has this huge unexplained gap in his life; he can't have spent the whole time in a Council library, surely?

Glad you liked Darla's cameo; it seemed more interesting to have her than an original vamp character.

Thanks again for running this comm - it was a welcome challenge to my natural unplottiness, and I've really enjoyed the other contributions too.

Wow! Interesting take on how Giles became Giles.

It also makes me wonder how Giles would have carried on if blinded.

Thanks! (I'm afraid I can't picture the Council being very supportive. I suspect he'd have slipped back into magic and rebellion, most likely. Which might be fun to read, but someone else can write it).

Excellent stuff! Really dark, and really captures Giles' character - or how it might have been back then, and a bit of what made him who he was later.
