The Only Girl
Changmin/Sooyoung; Yunho/Sooyoung; G
story by violet94

I put the 'gift' carefully inside a small red box. With a black ribbon, I tied it as creative as I can. I changed clothes after; wearing the dress that was given to me. The black vintage one, in case you're wondering.

"Okay, Choi Sooyoung." I looked at myself in the mirror. Hey, not bad, I thought. But this isn't the time to dress to impress anybody or myself.
"It's time to pay the price!" I closed my fist, like the thing actresses usually do in movies.
"Sooyoung-ah!!" I heard Soojin's voice from the first floor; a sign that my ride has arrived.

"Coming!" I rushed out, with the red box on my hands alongside a black purse containing pepper spray, the invitation card a.k.a visitor pass, and some chocolates  (in case I get bored).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amazed, mesmerized, hypnotized and lots more. How can Jessica's parents afford to manage FIFTY -- like FIFTY not FIFTEEN -- limousines to come to each house of those who got invited just to make sure that the person WILL attend the party? What are their jobs for them to have this much money?!

I bet everyday Jessica could sleep with satin blankets, bath on Jacuzzi, or eat foods from different nations! Wah, I'll drool myself a sea if I were her. Though I know that'll never ever happen. It's impossible.

On the way to Jessica's mansion, the chauffeur told me that 'Madame' Jessica already prepared each guest some beverages. Wine, beer, orange-juice, sky-juice! And I was not even thirsty! But if she served things like pork ramen, roasted lamb, etc. then that'll be like heaven! I hope she serves those kinds of foods at the party. Although I don't really think I'm going to enjoy it. Ugh calm down, Sooyoung!

"Miss Choi, if I'm not mistaken." The chauffeur snapped me out of my own world.
"Yes? Is there something wrong?" I asked. I moved closer to the driver and I noticed that he's actually young. And most shockingly, he looked like he's younger than me! I'm not getting old, am I?

"We're here." He said shortly after giving me a slight glance.
"Ah, okay. Thank you?" I looked at his name tag to thank him, "Jonghyun."
"Urmm." He nodded and pulled his hat a bit lower. "May I open the door for you, Miss?" he offered.
"No. It's okay. I can do it myself." I said and quickly got out of the limousine.

As soon as I closed the door, the young driver, Jonghyun, quickly drove off the limousine and was out of sight in less than 30 seconds. Weird, I thought. Without further thinking about unnecessary things, I took in a big breath and walked courageously through the gate, past the crowded lawn with plants that I have never seen in my life. Surprisingly, not a single soul lined up. There was only me standing in front of the tall oak door; a security guard sitting on a chair beside the door, sleeping.

"Urm.. " I gently tapped the shoulder of the man. He was skinny like he suffering from anorexia. He was drooling all over himself and woke up with a start after I prodded him.
"Huh? Where's the bomb?" his head turned from right to left and left to right searching for the bomb he just mentioned about. "Ah yes?" He finally realized my appearance.
"I'm here for.. the party?" I took out the invitation card and showed it to him. He leaned closer to the card and squinted his eyes.
"Yeap.. this is the party. You may get in." he showed the door.
"Thank you." I said with a slight bow as I went inside the mansion.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sound of music (Woah. That really sounded exactly like from one of Julie Andrews' movies!) from the ballroom, I think, could be heard just as soon as I got inside. Based on the deserted entrance of the mansion, I knew that, most probably, all of them have already gotten inside.

Just as soon as I stepped inside the room, I heard someone's voice stop me.
"Oh, no. You picked the black one!" I turned to face the person who is Hyoyeon. What's she doing here? Wasn't she supposed to be with Jessiqueen and the others?
"Huh? Why do you care?" I questioned her, frowning.
"Sooyoung?" she shook her head with a sigh. " You still haven't remembered me, huh? It's me Hyoyeon. Kim Hyoyeon from 5th grade."
"Hyo..yeon?" I tilted my head to the side, still not having a clue.

"Remember these words, 'We'll meet again one day, SooSoup? I promise'"

Hearing those words, it brought back memories during the last time I met my best past-10-years-old friend. Hyoyeon?

[FLASHBACK]

"Why did you have to go, HyoHoney?" I cried, using my arms to wipe the tears that won't stop flowing. "Who'll gonna be my food-friend? Yoona would never want to.." I sniffed.
"Sooyoung-sshi?"Hyoyeon put her hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me.
"Don't stop calling me, Soosoup! I won't be hearing it when you're gone!" I gave out a howl, crying non-stop.

"Soosoup-sshi." She bent down.
"What is it?" I sniffed, and stared at Hyoyeon.
"Wanna make a deal?"
"A deal?"
"If I still haven't come back to this school, then I promise you. We'll meet again one day, Soosoup."
"Do you really really promise that?" I said, wanting for a confirmation.
"I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die."

[END OF FLASHBACK]

"HyoHoney?!" I made a big O. "You fulfilled your promise!" I gave her a huge hug.
"Well, sort of." She gently pushed me away. "But this is not the time for a reunion. I don't have much time. Jessica is up to something. Really bad. Well, she wasn't going to do something THAT bad if you agreed to her option 1."
"Oh, so either way, I'm still in a bad luck?" I cut her.
"Yes... But the main point is to be careful. Don't get near with Sunny or Yuri. And there's something with your invitation card. There's--" her cell phone started to ring.

"Oh, no. Sooyoung, I can't help you anymore. Jessica called. I need to go. Have this. You'll need it." She handed me a mask like the ones in Phantom of the Opera and ran off.
"When and where can I meet up with you again?!" I yelled.
"After school, 4 o'clock. At the nearest dancing studio at across our school!" she replied, and was already out of sight.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slowly, I got inside and passed through a red curtain. As I looked around, everyone was wearing their own mask. There were fur, feathers, glitters and such covering their faces. Now I know why Hyoyeon gave me this mask.

"Sooyoungie.." Jaejoong's obvious voice called my name.
"Ah.. Jaejoong! How I'm so glad to see you. You look good." I gave him a compliment, relived that I saw him.
"Thanks. Wah.. You look pretty. But why aren't you wearing your mask?" he asked. "Didn't you read your invitation card? Rule no 11. Prepare a mask. It will be worn at the beginning of the party."
"Oh, I must have missed it." I said, although I knew Jessica intentionally left out her rule no. 11 in my invitation card."Where's Yunho?" I changed the topic.

"I'm next to you." Yunho said, making me jump.
"Oh, you gave me a fright."
"Sorry." I could see him smile under the mask.
"Urm?" Jaejoong popped out between us, whispered, "You know that I'm in a disguise right?" he turned to me. I nodded as a reply.

"You see. I promised, actually I was forced to promise, to take Yunho and myself meeting up with some of our fan club members so," he tugged Yunho's arm, "Mianhe, Sooyoungie!" he bowed.
"It's okay. I understand."
"Thanks!" he hugged, and pulled Yunho away.
"Don't worry. If anything happens, we'll be there!" Yunho yelled. He really considerate, I thought. Sort of like my life savior.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walking around the room with the Phantom of the Opera mask Hyoyeon gave, I recognized Shindong, despite of his size, sitting at the corner beside the table of food. Because there was no one else I could hang out with, I went up to him

"Hey.." I sat beside him.
"Ah, Sooyoung? You look a bit different." Shindong commented.
"Really? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?" I wondered
"No, it's a good thing." He said. "So, you decided to bring 'it'?"
"Yeah.. it's in here." I gently patted the red box I've been holding. "Hey, come you're not with Junsu or Eunhyuk?" I noticed.

"Ah.. them? Junsu's not here. He's with Changmin again. And Eunhyuk is?" he pointed next to him. He was drinking punch and talking with a few of his fans. "..there."
"Aah. Looking at this situation, Shindong, do you have any fans? Sorry if this is personal.." I apologized
"No, it's okay. And I do. But only 3. They're not here because they didn't get invited." He sipped his apple juice.
"Then, how come you got inside to 3-D class? No offense but I thought the class is for hot guys?"

"Ooh.. Well, you see. I'm extremely dumb. And second of all my 3 fans are crazy and they're very powerful in that school. Next to Jessica that is. The three of them are in year 2, if you ask. But they really nice to me so I don't really mind." He explained. "I wish Taeyeon was one of them" he muttered. I felt sorry for him.

Suddenly, Eunhyuk came out from out of the blue. Already finished with the fan service, huh?
"Quick, quick. I wanna show you something." He sat beside me.
"Eh? You noticed me?" I shocked.
"Sooyoung?" he looked around me, still sitting at his place. "Actually I was expecting someone else but oh well." Wow, that hurts from someone who had been wasting time with me and his friends after recess for almost a week.

"Look at Jessica." He pointed with his finger. I shot my eyes to where he was pointing. There she is, our Queenka, amusingly talking with the Giraffe-guy with her companions at her back. How come they weren't wearing their own masks?
"What about it? It's normal right?"
"Just wait? Okay, okay.. They're about to leave!" he waited anx like a kid.

Patiently, I bothered myself watching them. Jessica said a goodbye at Changmin giddily and left. One by one her companions at the back followed her. Sunny was grinning at Changmin whereas Hyoyeon reminded him to not be flirty (Nice, Hyohoney). But Yuri, she was throwing death glares at him. And that's quite strange.

"You see that? You see that? That proves it!" Eunhyuk said excitedly
"Proves what?" I asked dumbfounded.
"Proves that the rumour about Kwon Yuri secretly having a crush on our Queenka is true!"
"What?! She's a lesbian??" I am terribly astonished.
"Actually she's bisexual. Didn't Junsu already tell you that??" Shindong asked. I shook my head vigorously.
"He was about to. But then I rarely see him these days."

"Oh yeah.. I don't know why he kept hanging out with Changmin now.. " Eunhyuk scratched his un-itchy scalp, and went off to continue his fan service.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the last song from Beethoven, everyone was allowed to take off their masks. Jessica was onstage with a microphone on her hand. By then, everyone surrounded the stage and kept quiet, listening to what Jessica had to say.

"Thanks for coming guys.. Hope you enjoy. Now it's time for the hand out gifts. I will call out your names one by one. " She announced. Her eyes were fixed on me. Her eyebrows went up and she continued, "Oh, it seems like little Miss Choi Sooyoung wore the black dress I gave. If I were you I would have worn the green one since I think it's a lot nicer." She grinned maliciously.
Everyone faced to me. "The black dress is a much better idea than the green one since this is a night party." I replied with a fake smile.

"Well, then. I hope you have a splendid time." she said, and off to change the topic " Now, the first gift would be from my parents but?" she faltered, "Unfortunately, they couldn't come. They have some business errands to do. They sent their regards to all of you and gave me a red Porsche outside as a gift. You may have a look after this party. So, thank you mom and dad for the lovely gift bla bla bla" She continued her speech with me half-listening. For the first time ever, she looked innocent. But just a few seconds though. I know she is still going to have her revenge!

"Okay," she changed her tone a bit. "For the first present.. It would be from?" Everyone anxiously waited to know who would be the first one to give her a present. Though I bet some were already thinking that it'll be Changmin.
"Choi Soo Young." She smirked. The entire room gasped. Even I was gasping.

"Please bring yourself to the stage.." Sunny said, when I still didn't move from my place. Why is she doing this to me?
"Okay Sooyoung, you can do this. After she opens it, run for it!" I said in my head.

In a prepared but still nervous condition, I walked forward. Then SooJin's voice suddenly rang in my ears...

[FLASHBACK]

She put herself in a sitting position and looked at me straight in the eye.
"Are you sure? You know, me, mom and dad really don't want you to transfer schools again."
"I know I know." I said, dismally.
"I didn't mean to offend you but just remember," She put her palm on my shoulder, "Stay out of trouble okay?"
"Emm. Yes, unnie." I nodded.
"I'm proud of having a sister like you. I really am." She smiled warmly.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

I stopped in my steps. I realized I shouldn't be doing this. Looking at Jessica tapping her foot waiting for me, I said, " Oh, what do you know. Is it late already? I have to go now." I turned and tried to run but Yuri quickly stopped me.

"Where are you going?" Jessica came down, walking towards me. As she got closer, she muttered, "Scared? Afraid? Now you want to regret?" her arms crossed.
"No way." I said angrily while trying not to lose my temper. "I got the wrong present for you." I said, slowly walking backwards when I felt a sudden push from my back. It was Yuri.

"Oh no.. you aren't going anywhere." Jessica harshly grabbed the red box,
"Wait!" I tried to stop her. Jessica ordered Yuri and Hyoyeon to hold me. Hyoyeon looked at me with an apologetic face and forced herself to follow Jessica's words.
"I'm not going to fall for you trick. If I let you go, you'll most probably try to plan something for your revenge." She pushed my head.

The crowd could only stare. They couldn't do anything. Ahh.. where's Jaejoong and Yunho when you need them??

"Now, let's see what you brought me." She opened the black ribbon. "Oh, sandwiches? Well, I guess that's the best thing you could give me since you're a pauper. Let's give it a taste, Shall we?" she opened her mouth, taking a bite off.

I didn't want to see the horror on her face. I closed my eyes tightly. Then, the drama began..

"Kyaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eww Yuck! Cucumbers !! Eww eww eww!" She spat the sandwich. "How dare you!"
"Told you so." I said, not knowing to say any than that.
"Don't you know our Jessica hate cucumbers?" Sunny angrily said with her squeaky voice.

"Urgh, get away Sunny. Nobody knows about that." She grunted. "But now you just discovered it. Stalker!" she accused me for being a stalker. Everyone around us started to whisper.
"You're going to pay. Sunny!" She snapped her fingers. Sunny seemed to understand. Quickly she ran and brought a bowl of stale soy milk, her nose now covered with a handkerchief (where did that come from?).

The soy milk smelled awful. I thought I would vomit any time then. Jessica took a deep breath and took the bowl from Sunny's hands.
"Do you know what I am going to do with this?" she questioned. I shook her head, because obviously I don't have any clue.
"Well then.." She poured the fermented soy milk into the gift box filled with cucumbers sandwiches. "Can you tell me what's this?" she showed me the box.
"A box?" I answered.

"Huh? Very funny. Wrong STUPID! This is a chemical combination of your awful cucumber sandwiches and a soy milk that smells as horribly as you." She said like a Science Teacher. "Can you guess what I will be doing with this?"
"I dunno. Pour it on my head?" I guessed.

"Close.. but not good enough!!" she lift the box and splashed it on me. I closed my eyes, ready to face the consequences when I heard Yunho called my name.

SPLASH!!!

Gasps. The whole room became as silent as a graveyard. I opened my eyes and surprisingly; I saw Yunho wasn't in front of me. He was standing, petrified like a rock beside Jessica who had her jaw dropped. The person who has covered me from Jessica's evil action was... Changmin.

"Ah.. Changmin-ah, are you okay?" Jessica panicked. She took a towel and wiped the smell of his tux. He ignored Jessica and turned to me.
"You left your handkerchief the other day in class." He handed out a Doraemon printed little towel with my name at the left leg of Doraemon's.
"Thanks." I said, grabbing it with my eyes staring on the floor. I was too shocked. Did he do it on purpose or was he just plain stupid to wet himself just to give me back my handkerchief?

I could hear him gulp and cough. Beneath the cough there was a "you're welcome".

Changmin faced Jessica again and said, "Thanks for the party." He bowed a little and left. Yunho came to me; put his hands on my arms.
"Are you okay?" he asked considerately.
"Yeah.. I guess so..?" I said, with my eyes glued on Changmin's back as he left.

"This is your entire fault! You did this to him!" Jessica roared.
"What?! What did I do to your Changmin anyways?!" I frowned.
"You did? you.. URGH!" she threw the box towards me but it almost hit Yuri.

"That's it!!" she yelled. And with her mind made up, she threw what was like a death sentence to me.

"I challenge you to get his attention within 3 days!"
