I was wondering whether they were intentional, as well. I don't know! And I don't know how I would feel about it if they were.
I don't think I'm known for focusing on plot a lot, so when I recognise plot holes, I tend to assume they really must be glaring. ;-) I'm much happier focusing on characters, too. :D
(And in other news, LJ still has not fixed comment notifications, it seems. Grrr, argh!)
Actually, the oddest thing about last night's episode for me was I really couldn't place what the smilies function was, except to be the token spookies...? Oh good, me too!
I wish I had that tape, too. And then we could make a gif from it! (If we ever learn how.)
I'd have to watch it again to pick out specifics. Yep. And, well, no.
So far I think I do, too!
PS: Going on Amy's terror as exhibited in her message to herself, I really thought it was gong to be something far more horrible than kidnapping and torturing a star whale. (Which, also horrible, but I rely on the fact that you know what I mean.)
PPS: It adds to my liking of Amy when her Scottish accent is more discernible. Like, a lot.
I know! Oh man, I was tired last night. I should have included that it was also sloppy in the internal plot.
The more I think about this episode (which mainly occurred while I was in the shower - I'm a bit late in replying) the less I like it. Not hating it with a passion or anything, it was just very badly done. There are plenty of things that make no sense except for spooky affect or leading the viewer to certain emotions. I mean, because I'm a sucker, they almost had me with the montage of children, but not quite -- because star whaleThe only specific that seems important is that I totally noticed 11 being a little 9ish. But (even though he is the Doctor, and I just said that I like them) I feel like I don't know these characters, and they don't know each other well enough for that to work. I mean, with 9, you can put aside the whole "stupid ape" thing because he is obvious totally in love with Rose. (This is just facts, my friends.) So there was more to it than simply what it literally was, you know? If I were Amy (hee!) I would

Also, I noted early on that this episode felt very sloppy, continuity-wise, but I'd have to watch it again to pick out specifics.
I like these characters, though.
