Show is back, yay!

You guys! That was a good old Doctor Who romp! Who would have thought? (Not me, I tell you.)

This was the first episode this series that I actually, thoroughly enjoyed. It was the first time that I instantly connected with the newly introduced characters, all of whom were well-drawn and very distinct. And an abundance of strong women, as well! Aleia (sp?), Ambrose (who you just know still has the handgun), and, best of all, Nasreen. I am totally in love with Nasreen and want her to be the next companion please. There wasn't any apparent misogyny either, which shouldn't surprise me as much as it does, but it does please me. (At least there was a thinly veiled excuse for the very short shorts - dressed for Rio, indeed. With a jumper an a leather jacket. Uhu.)

Also! There was Eleven being all Doctorish, and I really like what Matt Smith is doing with his Doctor, and there was ethical conflict and heartfelt emotion and a non-annoying, actually quite cool kid. YAY SHOW.

I'm... still not really warming to Amy, though, I'm afraid. I didn't really notice that she was gone, or missed her, and that's probably not a good sign. I mean, I don't mind her, but...yeah. Not feeling the love.

No idea how part two will hold up, but this was the sort of enjoyment I want to get from my Doctor Who every week, pals.
