Debacle

Yesterday, I finally managed to win an old battle that I have been fighting for ages - the pronunciation of the word 'debacle'. I have given in to many correct pronunciations as time went on, from alias to deity to bestowed, but I have been fighting debacle for years. At least when you pronounce words in a manner that's against the norm, you may actually be right. Dylan Boynton, however, never is.

Wow...had you ever asked me to pronounce "debacle" I would have pronounced at you..."DE-bah-kul"...De-BAH-kul just sounds dumb, like when you pronounce syllable "si-LAH-bul"...Anyways, I would agree with all of your other words and pronouciations as well EXCEPT for root...which IS pronounced as "foot" (except in the occasion of the square root).
