Hard Eight introduces two new characters to the Plum World, Jeanne Ellen Burrow and Albert Kloughn. Jeanne Ellen relationship seems to be to Ranger as Morelli is to Terry Gilman. Both having a bit of history behind them and both make Stephanie jealous. Stephanie jealous is so cute
( ... )
This wasn't my favorite Stephanie Plum. I didn't care for Kloughn at all, and the entire story was too clownish. I understand that Stephanie isn't going to have a normal life, but the entire story was just too unbelievable. If Stephanie had a lick of sense she would know better than leave her purse or any item in any car she drives! And when Joe let her go to get pizza on her own, knowing full well that a maniac was after her, I thought everyone needed some major counseling.
And call me a prude, but I don't understand how a girl can waiver between two really decent guys. I really like Joe and Ranger, but the girl needs to choose one!
Ramirez is still the scariest villain, hands down.
My favorite quote came from Lula about Stephanie's couch: "Everyone knows you can't see death cooties. Take my word for it, that couch has the biggest, fattest death cooties that ever existed. That couch has the mother of all death cooties." - Lula

I agree with Lula. Time for a new couch!

Ramirez still has all the villians beat, and by that I'm including most of the villians from other books.
