The keyboard on my laptop has gone berserk. I've tried System Restore, uninstalling and reinstalling its drivers, uninstalling my other language settings, contacted Sony Tech Support and NOTHING. The best solution they can give me is to recover the system entirely. I've run a backup, I'm now trying to clean the registry to see if that helps. I ( Read more... )

If it is *just* the keyboard, try to hook up a (USB) wireless keyboard. Maybe that would work. They're not that expensive these days and it could be worth it. I've had one of those on my laptop for years now, since the touchpad went fubar.

Well, for whatever reason, when I turned the machine on today the keyboard decided to go back to normal. Thanks for the advice though! I think I may invest in a wireless keyboard jic.

Well, good for that.
Sometimes, I little bit of wishful thinking works with computers. That and bashing them on the wall.
It all depends...

I was going to leave a comment on the lines of "that happened to me once but it was fine again for no apparent reason" but then decided that was unconstructive advice.

Obviously this happens fairly commonly, I dunno. Unfortunately I can't comment on the subsequent lifespan of the computer as that was the one I spilt nail varnish remover on and had to have its C drive and system drive replaced, and then 6 months later the motherboard. But probably nothing to do with the original keyboard fault. Sorry...
