So the company I work for has a ranch, in addition to publishing magazines and newspapers. Don't ask, I can't tell you why. But today's cafeteria special is steaks from the ranch, and they flew in a cowboy to help promote the meat.

I'd prefer Bruce as the eco-conscious yuppie name.

Promote the meat? Is this some sort of small-scale research to see if they should go to market with their meat? I find this highly troubling.

Screw the meat, I want my company to send a cowboy to my home office. ::pout::

I remember reading an LJ conversation a while ago about how Bruce was a stereotypical gay name. To the point that the star of "The Incredible Hulk" (I think) wanted the non-Hulk character's name changed from Bruce to something else because "OMG, people will think he's GAY..." Apparently this was big in the '60s and '70s.

I actually don't remember anything about Bruce being a gay name (I'm TOO YOUNG to get the reference! YESSS!). Apparently at one time it was universal code for "gay," though:

"they flew in a cowboy to help promote the meat."

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds dirty?

I love your job so much sometimes.

LULZ. I didn't think it did until you said something, and am now thoroughly enjoying the idea.
