Why a butler as opposed to, say, a concierge or a factotum?

Um,
THE UNIFORM
.
Actually, I was a concierge when I was in college, and really liked it. Hmm. (And thank you for teaching me a new word! Factotum!)

I'm not crazy about the skirt-morning coat combo but the pants version... yeah, awesome.
Factotum is a fun word to say. I hardly ever get a chance to use it, out loud or in print. Glad you like it, too!

Nah, but I nearly ACED
the etiquette quiz at butlerschool.com
, you know?
(Actually, I was a concierge in college and really enjoyed it. I'm much better suited for that than butlering, I think. This is a thought.)

Sadly, it was Mr. Belvedere that prompted this. (He was a nanny, though, I think.) (Mr. Belvedere + seeking life change.)
As per The Internet, Mr. French was a "gentleman's gentleman." Would that make me a gentleman's lady? That sounds decidedly un-butler-like.

Well, my thinking in becoming a butler is that I'm quite good at pleasing people. So.

Oh, I wish I could afford to hire you as my butler. It'd be a pretty easy job, all things considered.

I would look after the yacht and lay out your purple tights every day!

Somehow this made me think that I would be a crime fighter, a la Bruce Wayne, and you would be my Alfred. This pleases me enormously.
