It has been ages since i did a tennis post. Or maybe just a week.
In any case, I haven't had the opportunity to watch a lot of matches since the First Slam of the Year started, but there have been some amazing matches, upsets, etc.
First off, I have to celebrate. I can't do this on Twitter or Facebook (which I rarely do anyway) because I have a lot of Roddick loving friends and his loss yesterday was a toughie. But...he lost to Marin Cilic, who I was wholeheartedly rooting for.
OMG Marin. First you beat DelPo in five. And then Rod in five. Can you please survive against Murray day after tomorrow? Pretty please?
SIGH. I am SO happy.
Rafa lost yesterday to Murray. I kind of had a bad feeling about that match, just because, well, it's Murray and while Rafa has been playing well since his return from his knee injury last year, he isn't back to the same top form as he was last year before Roland Garros. And I had a feeling he wouldn't be defending his title this year (sniff). He retired against Murray because his knee was giving him too much pain. That does not bode well but at least it happened NOW instead of at RG again...hopefully he'll be well enough in the next few weeks to compete.
I'm looking for a Nole-Marin final. High hopes but hey, I can dream. Let's see if Davydenko can dismantle Fed. He's been scarily good (Davy, I mean) and I would love for him to keep up his good streak.
Anyway. That's enough tennis news for one day. I will bask in my moment of content for a bit now :)
