So I just got a call from my couch surfer that's arriving on thanksgiving and we got to talking for a bit. He's here for his 10 year reunion and is currently living in Seattle. I really need to look into this couch surfing, I am thinking of doing a cross country road trip to NYC in Feb.

I'd say the biggest help you can give yourself is by having a completely filled out profile (with pictures). As a rule of thumb, make it have enough information that if you were reading your profile as a stranger, you would be comfortable in having them stay with you.
