I, like many of you, have been very neglectful of LJ for quite awhile. Facebook did it for me, plus getting older and not feeling like sharing *everything* to the world like I used to. But it is still quite a valid medium for memories and I'm going to try to start posting more often

Hey! Just curious about how you're going about your residency authorizations in Canada. I'm planning on entering on a temporary 6 month student work visa (BUNAC) this spring and then staying an additional 6 months as a visitor. Hopefully by then my boyfriend will have proposed (ha!) or I can just qualify as common-law with him to get my PR.

we're doing outside spousal (though I will be living in Canada, its just a matter of where the paperwork is filed)

now if my stupid FBI report would just show up, its been weeks now!

right now I'm just on a visitor visa and in fact, I have to leave Canada by the 30th because the last time I crossed the border I didn't have proof of funds or insurance, but its just a matter of crossing the border and showing my paperwork so it shouldn't be a big deal and hopefully they'll give me a much longer visitor's record while I'm waiting for my PR.

I just renewed my work visa for a 3rd year in November, and I hired a lawyer to help me get my Permanent Residency, which my job is helping me get, along with my crappy Francias skills...

thanks, we're in QC. I'm so glad that I'm immigrating under spousal, I heard worker's PR was a bitch!

good luck with all of that, at least if you've already been here for 3 years you've already jumped many of the hoops and its just a matter of time!
