A true story

Oct 15, 2008 23:57

In 1990
the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada
for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it.

They failed and it closed.

So we are trusting the entire economy of our country
to same guys who couldn't make money
running a whore house and selling booze?

Seriously?

They failed and it closed.

Well to be fair, the problem was they couldn't keep their eye on the ball, and not keep sampling the wares.

In all fairness to the government: The Feds do things BIG. I mean really big. Their time frames for making shit work are usually 'till doomsday.' Private companies only need to get shit to work for the people they want to business with, and it needs to work only as long as the money will allow them to keep it running. The law of diminishing returns would dictate it's a lot harder to get that extra 1% than the previous 99...

Having said all that, I suspect if the country was running an entire division of whore houses, I'd be willing to wager they could be competitive...
