Soooo Gretchen made a comment about 401k losing money. so...yeah. I got my statement and it has lost 20% of the balance in the last quarter. I wish I had never opened that statement.

Yeah, but that just means you can buy MORE shares cause the price is lower, which means you'll be totally rich when the market turns around. At least, that's what was told to me when I asked if I should just clean out my 401k and bury the money in my backyard.

yeah when i freaked out earlier in the year someone told me the same thing and i now understand. as long as you're not investing in Ron Popeil's Mortgage Lendery and Hedge Funds, you should probably be ok.

I was too lazy (and uneducated) to pick, so I just have some retirement 2045 fund. It had a pretty good track record, but unfortunately, we just switched companies in late 07 so I've really only lost money in it.

your amateur advice is correct. I'm taking a huge hit because my investment is like 95% stocks and mostly high risk! But it will pay off and I have a couple years before I retire ;)

I am thankful I took that loan though!
