pretend that glowy thing the rabbit's holding is a heart. on a stick.

I love Ingrid and Eileen! I love all my friends but I love them the most right now because they've helped me so much with my SOP! So much so that they deserve a whole entry just talking about how great (and witty and charming!) they are!

I know, you're getting sick of the exclamation points. I'm stopping now. :p

I took too much time trying to figure out your subject line before reading the post and realizing you were referring to your icon. haha. I love cute little rabbits. Or old, fat incontinent ones (like my dear deceased Flopsie).

As for the feedback - after going through a lot of that stuff myself, I really know how important it is. And you helped me. :) By the way, I'll look for that article. It might be among the things I brought to my parents house over Thanksgiving, but I'll see if I can't at least find a pdf online or something.

Thanks!! I know I did help you, but not nearly as much as you've helped me! So I owe you one for sure. ^_^

In general, I think there should be more LJ posts devoted to how great and witty and charming I am. Thank you for providing one to better the status quo.

The help has been mutual (and trust me, I'm about to ask you for more of it). This may mean that I'll have to develop an icon with a small glowing mamal/stick for you a little later. But it really has been great to get outside my own head to edit your SoP because it's different than mine but still in the same vein of work. If that doesn't make sense, just understand that it's helpful to make me work on my own.

Post more drafts if you need to!

oh, i will! never have i needed a self-appointed anal editor more than i do now! :D and it's a welcome relief to read your drafts, because (1) like you say it's good to get out of my own head now and then, and (2) they're pretty much guaranteed to be much more fun to read than the next clinical psychology SOP that will get posted at the applying_to_grad LJ community. I swear, everybody and their mother is all into psychology these days. Stupid fluff excuse for science. Most of it, anyway. Hmph!

Having a biologist as a father has lead to think of sciences in terms of hard-sciences and fluffy-sciences ... I took all social sciences in college so I got to hear about this a lot. But I think psych is the worst (and I didn't take it) b/c it toes the line in between and wants to have itself be taken seriously in both worlds.

PS. Dad now refers to the dichotomy as fuzzy sciences and crunchy sciences. Not certain when they got crunchy but apparently they did. It might be a british thing too.

Oo!! oo!! Psych-bashing!! *jumps up and down* I want in on the action! Ho ho, Skinner - all behavior is response to stimuli, Freud - everything resembles a penis!, Rogers - we all have needs to fill to reach our full potentials.. woooah feeeelings... all behavior can be explained via statistical calculations of constructs that we just made up, measured on 5 point Likert scales from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree"!! [But, I must say, for the record, SOME social sciences *cough**cough*anthropology*cough* have a completely different epistemological basis and should not be considered "fluff science." :)]
