More goauche. I had a couple half-started paintings, one I was to finish forever ago and another that I wanted to finish forever-forever ago. So what did I do? Start up a completely new one on a lark. So I finished the really, really old one and the brand spanking new one. I'll finish that other one, eventually, I promise. But that self- ( Read more... )

You just made my morning. I love it. I really love the pose. And I've always liked that you don't prettify Phylus. The guy's skinny, he has weird hair, and he's got a big nose. I like the little details, like her polka dot bikini and their matching scars. And is that a ring on her finger? Because if it is, I might die of teh sweetness.

Add a couple martinis and a little dog and they are so Nick and Nora.

And hell yes, you need to get off your butt and start that website.

I should've made the polka dots yellow.

And is that a ring on her finger?
I have no idea what you're talking about. No idea whatsoever. Noooo...

those are amazing. You have a soft touch with the gouache that totally works -- like watercolor, but with more bite.

Yeah, I always feel like I'm making a muddy mess with watercolor. Something about the goauche being opaque makes it easier. There are a couple graphic novels that use it instead of the digital coloring and I think it just sets them apart. They were featured in Heavy Metal probably a couple years ago. Something about a former German Nazi turned vampire and the other one it was called [can't remember the kid's name] My Promise to You, I think.

Ooh I like both pieces. I really like the redhead's glasses. I makes me think that I definitely need to get a cooler pair the next time I go glasses shopping.

And Phylus and Mission is just so sweet. Dinah's right, they really are Nick and Nora. And like Nick and Nora, I expect like six sequels so I can follow the further adventures of the two of them.

Those glasses are actually an old pair of mine (self-masturbatory main character? Maybe just a bit.) I had to get a new pair because I always end up falling asleep in them so it got to the point that if I looked down, the glasses would just fall off.

The new ones are practically identical, just brown instead of green.

I've been told it's all set up... on a thumb drive. I think I need to stop being a crybaby and go for pay site instead of trudging through all the free sites. I'll have to see come Tuesday what my hourly's going to look like before I start tossing money around.
