Finally cleared enough HD space to play the demo. Graphics aside (Boo!), I think I might actually like it better than the original game. I won't mention any spoilers, but what I got is that gender doesn't appear to effect storyline, instead Hawke's class creates all the subtle replay differences.  There are moments where there's uncontrollable ( Read more... )

I have to admit that I liked it too (other than the sad, sad graphics). I also really dug dude!Hawke's voice more than lady!Hawke's. Also, mages are ninjas now which is pretty neat. But I've played through all three classes now and like how different they play. The combat seems to be much less tedious on the PC now, although I hear that it plays different on the console.

I already love Varric, Aveline and Cassandra (the templar at the beginning). Am sort of indifferent about Carver, Bethany and Isabella who I really wish would put on some freaking pants (I mean, seriously, WTF?). I mean, cleavage I sort of get. She's a pirate or whatever. But no pants? My indifference might change witht he full game though.

Also, did you notice that Bethany's boobs are bigger during the framed narrative part? I LMAO so hard at that.

Console gameplay, you actually have to actively hit buttons to make the player attack, which I dig. So it's more action-rpg than the last, so it forces you to participate instead of initiate battle and then, say, wander off to refill your coffee mug while Shale decimates everyone.

My default's a rogue, but I think I might actually swing mage because I prefer Carver to Bethany. Carver's a whiny prick, but at least that's a defining personality quirk as opposed to boobs.

Aveline seems very archetypal, so I'm afraid I'll get bored with her, but major points for wearing appropriate ass-kicking clothing. I do like Cassandra a lot, though.

I really didn't care much for the game play really. I mean, I didn't dig the first game too much because the story/setting was terribly generic although the characters were alright. But I did enjoy the battle system. I'm very fond of old PC RPGs ala Baldur's Gate and the like upon which the system was modeled after ( ... )

Yeah, I can see that. I'm a little disappointed with the ripping the ME dialogue wheel, because it's nice sometimes to know exactly what you're saying, but I'm still hopeful.

DA1 was sort of "meh" overall, but I think it was partly due to devs creating this whole new sandbox to play in and wanting to cram every bit of universe knowledge possible down your throat. With DA2, the sandbox' been established, so now they can actually tell a story in it. (Kinda like how X2 is a better movie than X1.)
