Or what I'd like to call, "The Mako Factor." There's a lot written and said already on storyline and I've only completed chapter 1 in the Jedi Knight storyline, so I'm going to touch on a few other things that make me giggle or just infuriate me.

I don't like Mako, mostly because like Nadia and Vette and Ashara, she seems so freaking calculated to push nerd boy romance buttons. Which makes sense, I guess, considering that they're the romances. But still, it really seems that most of the male characters who are romance options are designed to be interesting to players of both genders, where those four ladies seem to be designed to appeal to men only. I dunno. It's sort of hard to explain, but I really can't stand them ( ... )

Hmm. I adore my tanky lightsideish female bounty hunter and it's my personal headcanon that she and Mako go get many, many frothy drinks with umbrellas after successful contracts. (Course, it's my OTHER personal headcanon that she shoved Skadge out the airlock on the way into orbit.) It's helpful that I run mostly with Torian, since he doesn't talk much... :) Love Vette, tolerate Mako reasonably well, have no Nadia-having character, and loathe Ashara. FWIW.

Some of the other female companions totally give me the BFF vibe. Like Kira and Elara, both of whom I'm pretty sure are having epic slumber parties, tossing out high fives, and painting the JK/TR toenails when they get the chance. I really like both Risha and Akavvi too, mostly because Risha is a snarky bitch and Akavvi is a total hardass. Together with my female smuggler, they're like a band of kickass Charlie's Angels that fight crime for money and not justice.

I dunno why Mako irks me so hard. But then, as I play through the Bounty Hunter class slowly, I'm realizing that I'm getting the same distaste for Torian too. Like Mako, he just seems to be there to push every single fangirl button (and the hair is so unfortunate). He's kinda like Alistair that way, except that I liked Alistair as a character even though I eyerolled and lmao as I played through the romance. I do, however, like that the game will let you push them together (I think? Haven't gotten the option for that yet. Maybe I've flirted with Beiber Fett too much ( ... )

I think I'd be able to deal with Mako more if she were a companion, say, in the Jedi Knight storyline. I don't know if I'd like her any more, but she'd fit better there ( ... )
