I need some help

My period is due any day now. I've been in so much pain and so dizzy it feels like the room is spinning. I've been feeling so weak that I don't want to get out of bed. I slept all day today and missed a test. I had to skip two days of school because of this. If I miss tomorrow, I'll get an incomplete in my course. I started taking vitamins not too ( Read more... )

I don't believe that PMDD includes those symptoms, certainly not the pain. You certainly sound in need of medical attention right now. I'm wondering whether you could have some sort of abdominal problem going on, perhaps an infection of some sort, as it's not always easy to pinpoint exactly which organ in there is the one playing up. (I once spent a while thinking I had pain in my digestive tract until the GP examined me and said it was actually my bladder.) If it were me (in the UK, so I have the NHS) I'd probably ring my GP first, as she could always tell me to go to hospital if needed. Is a GP an option, or is the ER the only realistic thing you can do? Whatever you do, go to a doctor!

calcium & vitamin D tablets. but i find it helps to take them from ovulation onwards (ie, right thru main PMT phase). I find it helps reduce painful tits and smooth actual period hassles.

Also try those Barocca Performance fizzle tablet things that boost your B vits. They seem to be helping me at the moment.. or it's just that life is fun and more interesting at the moment and that takes my mind off things...hmmm.

Hang in there, best wishes

With all due respect, I don't think it's helpful to suggest just taking vitamins to someone who could be having anything up to acute appendicitis and is clearly in need of immediate medical attention, as we don't want her to skip seeing a doctor in favour of vitamins! That said, I'm interested to hear that you find calcium with Vitamin D helpful in that respect. I'm meant to be taking those once the other new meds I'm on have settled down.

Other respondents had mentioned the more acute action. I am only suggesting some other background things I have found useful.

You need the vit D to unlock the calcium. I find a phase (early on) in my cycle where my body craves calcium (and who knows what else)...I find myself biting my nails. But this doesn't happen if i take calcium (with vit D) tablets. And other as said initially. Stress does seem to increase the likelihood of my period being a particularly bad one. Not sure why yet.

Are you OK? I didn't notice your user name until a while after replying, but looking at that now and your visible journal, I gather that you have some substantial mental health difficulties going on, for which you have my sympathies. I do realise that these can make it a lot harder to decide what to do about any given medical problem. Please go and see a doctor about the issues you're reporting. They are not part of PMDD, which may be hormonal in origin but is psychiatric in its symptoms, and they sound serious and in need of urgent attention.
