Someone told me I am well rounded

Sep 12, 2014 07:12

Okay apparently I am stubborn too. Apparently I can't be easily influenced so I will flip that around and be influenced to be well rounded (and not bore everyone with tales of the girl - well a bit at the end if that's okay)

Birthday

A quick thank you to everyone who wished me well, some cases belatedly, some cases early, and even those who maybe thought it and didn't type.

My birthday's not always a happy day, it invariably is never about me and how I need to keep everyone else happy. Still you all brought smiles and I am back posting sooner than I expected.

Ladies Hair Cuts

I missed a chance to respond to a friends plea for requests for a new style. I am not fashion guru or hair officiando, but I grew up around a salon at times, plus do have an eye for beautiful face so here's a few suggestions for anyone that needs a change although the suggestions are aimed at one friend, just don't mistake me for you gbf (I would be peaking).

I like short hair but don't go shorter than this

A better length, the curls being important

Zooey Deschanel has a good look, but the one I like is this lop-sided approach

Could not resist one from Jenna, a very well-suited style for my friend also.

I think I might have enjoyed this research and maybe not for the hair.

Kirsty

Anyone in the proximity of London next weekend, or in particular Hampton Court might want to check out Kirsties Handmade Fair. http://www.thehandmadefair.com/. Its a hands on event (I wish) with Kirstie Allsopp with loads of craft demo, product, and workshops.

Public Service announcement over.

Independence or Good Riddance

The big topic here is Scottish Independence. Its the desperate struggle of a nation to regain its identity.

Lets ignore its already a recognised country within the United Kingdom, has its own football (soccer to some), rugby, cricket teams etc. It has its devolved government etc.

So whats to be gained and by whom. Well if you are a bureaucrat then you're quids in (or will it be euros in, dollars in, or ...). Whilst political union is difficult process to achieve and requires great struggle, once you have it there seems very little benefit to breaking up and each party to it needing to go away and have a new set of politicians, new civil servants, new government bodies to manage health, education, etc..In my book duplicating things is not a good economic way forward.

Then lets get on to civil unrest and a case of 4m people vs 60m people. Let them have their independence but it will be just like moving out of home, but be sure your parents won't let you come back. So are the Scots thinking about who will control their currency ,who will pay their pensions, healthcare etc because they will have to do it themselves. What rights will they have in England, will they be welcome - why shouldn't we increase taxation form non-EU citizens of which the Scots would become. What makes them think we won't be charging higher fees for them to watch the BBC which does not need to be aired in Scotland.

Overall, I can't find a logical reason for them to want to leave and a logical one for us not to encourage them to go.

The Doctor and the 100

Not having time for too much on the box right now, Doctor Who is a must see for a variety of reasons. I am fairly sure the current regenerate won't be a favourite and sure I won't give him a chance. His assistant however epitomises companionship (and she is lovely) so can't fail to enjoy.

The 100 however is interesting and entertaining. Its not the greatest series ever, however it feels like a combination of ideas, strong initial element stolen from Lord of the Flies, a classic novel about kids on an island and their power struggles. We will soon see how they end the first series and whether longevity is possible.

Frodo

Not the Hobbit like creature - but my new cycling jersey which arrived yesterday. Its exclusive because to buy it I first needed to qualify. Its not the cheapest but before you can order it through Strava, I needed to complete a single cycle ride in the month of Jul of 130km or greater (abour 85 miles). I have in fact completed this distance for 3 consecutive months and could have bought 3 jerseys. However, I have only bought July because its yellow, due to July being the month of the Le Tour and leader/winner wears yellow.

If you can stand a picture, I will take one once I get it on minus lycra cycling shorts (I will of course be wearing some other suitable attire to cover my blushes).

Warning - girl update

Okay - so over a week ago i told my b'day was Next Monday. She adds it to her diary for the wrong week.

Nervously I didn't contact her as my b'day approached because I had been a bit crazy in the week prior so giving her some respite, assured that my b'day would bring us some contact. Well Monday comes and goes and well no contact. I am admittedly miserable partly due to lack of contact but also because of other events.

I convince myself she may have sent something which has been delayed by the postal / mail service.

The following day more misery but I surprise myself. You see her behaviour was unexplainable so rather than create a reason I have two facts - she failed to acknowledge me for 5 days including my b'day and that it is out of character. Instead I drop her a line to make sure she is okay.

My greeting was well received and we text for a few hours. Not once do I mention it, but the rare receipt of 'x' in the midst of a message tells me my faith and trust was not misplaced.

The next day she realises her error somehow and expresses her degree of being upset. I dismissed it as a non issue and console her that a life-time with her is more valuable than one b'day. Again many texts and affection.

I think right now we are as good as it can be again without meeting. Importantly many issues like b'day gone means I am more at peace with myself and content with where we are. Trusting the ones you care about feels good.

Well rounded enough?

Love to you all
