I've never heard of that happening before. I thought that a Messianic Jew was a Jew who accepted Jesus (Yeshua) as Messiah and God-incarnate. In other words, isn't Messianic Judaism a type of Christianity? I think that they maintain some distinctly Jewish elements, such as observing the Jewish Sabbath and holidays, staying kosher, and practicing circumcision. But I'm not an expert. I don't know why a gentile would become a Messianic Jew. (It seems pretty clear in the New Testament that kosher laws and circumcision don't apply to gentile Christians.)
Of course, I don't really believe that Stewart is Messianic -- he's just ignorant of Judaism.
