1. I spoke of Flash in my previous post. She was my cat for seventeen years, a really sweet and loving cat with blue eyes, thick fluffy white fur like combed cotton and a squeaky meow. She was very fond of cuddling up with anyone wearing dark clothing; we went through lint rollers like crazy! We had to put her to sleep earlier this month as her kidneys had failed and she wasn't eating. There's not much you can do for a cat her age. We do miss her.
2. I supported President Barack Obama during the election because I liked his plan for our country better than McCain's. Unfortunately, I think I'm the only moderate/liberal in my conservative family. My aunt sent an e-mail to everyone on her list, full of nastiness regarding Obama shortly after the election, I answered her and that led to a bit of a row (also discussed in a previous LJ post). I think we've mutually agreed to not discuss it, as she hasn't e-mailed me any more political stuff, though she still e-mails me with funny stories and photos of her cats.
3. I've been a Doctor Who fan since 1988. I was first introduced to it when the PBS station held a pledge drive with a Doctor Who theme, and one of my friends asked me to come with her to answer phones. I didn't see much of the show during the phone answering, but what I saw intrigued me. Next week, I tuned in to "The Ribos Operation" and was hooked. Half a year later, another friend invited me to a Doctor Who Fan Club she was starting up. I went, enjoyed myself immensely and ended up meeting my future husband there. We've been married eighteen years and have a seven-year-old son who greatly enjoys "Robot".
4. With fandom comes fanfic, and I find drabble writing to be an enjoyable exercise in silliness. I've posted a few on my LJ, and hope to post more, as well as filksongs and other stories.
5. Another fandom I enjoy is Harry Potter. I haven't written any fanfics yet, though I've got a couple of them mentally mapped out. I also enjoy the films, they are absolutely beautiful and I love John Williams' music. Now why couldn't real-life school have been like Hogwarts?! ;D
