so the new elliott smith album finally hit record stores in my vicinity. i got my copy at b-side this afternoon and have been listening to it ever since.

and dear god, it is beautiful.

Yes, he is indeed dead. I believe he was working on this album at the time of his death (I'm not sure in what stage of completion it was), so it's being released posthumously.

he had all the songs recorded at the time of his death (one of his last interviews for under the radar magazine included an entire section about elliott talking about each track), but still had to put the final touches.

FUCK. you have the cd already? can i please burn it??? think of it as recompense for stealing my self-titled album. i actually listened to 'needle in the hay' on someone's playlist on i-tunes yesterday, and honestly, i think i play it more on the guitar than i hear the original..so we all know how skewed the song must have become in da' visual cortex. please bitch. enviarme mi disco compacto!

if not, i can bring it along and you shall have it this evening. provided you don't laugh, or me make laugh when i'm trying to act like a sleazy guy in this dance i don't even know why i'm doing.

and yes, i think i'm quite obsessed. therefore i have the CD. and i got it the day before it was supposed to be released (love the folks at b-side). as for burning- i told myself i won't burn it, and then i burned a copy for nick. so maybe i will. but seriously, people need to go out and buy that cd.

yes, my brain totally doesn't work in the morning. meh.
