After my swim this morning, and my shower, we all lay around the apartment, reading quietly... it was really relaxing, actually--perfect vacation activity. Eventually we felt compelled to get up, so we rallied together and went out to lunch at a barbeque place about twenty minutes away.
For lunch I had a turkey sandwich, with the restaurant's own barbeque sauce, and it was the best poultry-based sandwich I've ever had. I also sampled some of the restaurant's other sauces, including a mustard-based one, and a spicy one, and they were fabulous. After lunch, mom wanted to pop into Goodwill to see if they had anything Phil could use, and then it was back to Phil's place to relax some more.
Instead of being boring and just napping, Phil and I took the three hours it takes to watch Fiddler on the Roof--one of our favorites. Phil had never seen it all the way through until now, which is funny because we definitely sing and quote from it. Go figure.
After Fiddler, mom, dad and I went out to this store called "Dockside Imports" or something to that effect. They had a lot of really nifty, World-Market-esque stuff, and some lamer stuff, but it was fun to look around. Stores like that make me want to decorate a house, but I may settle for starting a sketchbook of room ideas for when I've got my own place someday. In the end, mom and I didn't get anything, and we went back to Phil's.
Our last activity of the evening was a trip to Flagler Beach! It took us about thirty minutes to drive up there, but we were allowed to bring Schroeder, so it was well worth it. As soon as we were down on the sand he started frolicking around excitedly--once Phil and I got in and started throwing the tennis ball around, he plunged right in. He's so hardcore! He battled all the waves, and the salt, and the sand, for about an hour. He even got tumbled a few times, but kept on trucking. So awesome. It was definitely ridiculously fun to swim with him--usually we're just on the shoreline, watching. But when you're in there, you can pet him and encourage him and see just how well he can swim. At one point, he even outswam me!
Once the tide came in and the waves got too big, we came back to Phil's, and now that I'm all showered and cleaned up, it looks like an evening of reading is in store for all of us. And tomorrow--Sea World! Sweet.
