but it's not necessary (just note that "papa" = junmyeon)

"Okay, everyone! Today's the day of our field trip!" Loud cheers erupted. "Just a few reminders before we go: no eating inside the museum, don't wander off on your own, grab onto your partners, and stay with the group at all times. Alright?!"

A loud chorus of "Yes!" was heard around the small group of children. Their kindergarten teacher smiled before she cheerily lead the kids to the school bus. She stood on the side as the children excitedly went up the steps of the vehicle, clinging to their respective partners. Ah, yes, today, the teacher had adopted a buddy system: you go in pairs everywhere, to make sure no one would get lost.

"Jongin-ah."

Jongin didn't even have to look as the owner of the voice slipped a small hand around Jongin's elbow. The slightly taller boy adjusted Sehun's hand, so it rested more comfortably on it, Sehun eagerly moving closer to Jongin as they stepped inside the vehicle.

"Don't move away from me, alright?" Jongin looked at Sehun beside him, who seemed to be too busy adjusting the Perry plush in his right hand. He seemed to be making sure it won't fall down, his eyebrows knitting in annoyance. Jongin sighed, tugging at Sehun's arm to pull him closer. A surprise yelp came from Sehun as he was pulled, looking at Jongin with a pout. The pout disappeared, however, as soon as Jongin tapped him on the nose. "Sehunnie?"

"What?"

"I said not to move away from me, got it?"

"Yeah, got it~"

"Good."

The first time Jongin met Sehun, he was a bit of a brat. The blond was sitting in his own table, crayons sprawled around him. He didn't spare a glance at Jongin when he said he was going to share the table (thanks to the teacher), and barely even acknowledged his presence as he continued to color the drawing.

Geez, no wonder he was sitting alone.

"I'm Jongin, what's your name?" He was really just asking to start a conversation. He already knew the kid's name was Sehun (or Sehunnie as the teacher called him).

But there came no answer. Save for the sound of Sehun's crayon against the piece of paper, there was no sound coming from either of the two.

This kid was annoying. Jongin couldn't believe someone would ignore him like that!

Trying to see what was keeping this guy occupied, Jongin had leaned in, looking over Sehun's shoulder. His eyebrows knitted, lips curving into a frown.

"Why'd you color the sun pink?"

Sehun turned around, cold eyes aimed straight at Jongin's face. A glare took over his features. Although his ears matched the color of his drawn sun. "It's pink because I want it to be pink!"

"But it looks dumb! The sun's supposed to be yellow!" Jongin shouted, grabbing the yellow crayon nearest to him. Before Sehun could even protest, Jongin shoved the other boy's hands out of the way, slamming the tip of the crayon onto the sun.

"Hey, stop it! What are you doing?!"

But Jongin ignored the panicked sounds, pushing away tiny hands that attempted to grab at the crayon. He hurriedly scribbled over the pink lines with the yellow ones because seriously, what kind of idiot colored the sun pink? When he was done with his work, yellow mixed in with the pink but he ignored that part, he stepped back, smug smirk on his face. "See, now it's a real sun!"

Silence and then --

Sniff.

Oh. Oh god.

Standing beside him was a Sehun desperately trying not to let tears fall. He was biting his lower lip, his eyebrows a knot. His face was as red as a tomato as he stared (or rather, glared) at the piece of paper on the table.

"You ruined it."

Jongin felt a pang of guilt but quickly pushed it aside. "I did not, I made it better!"

"Nooo, you ruined it!" Now he really cried. The tears fell from his eyes as he shouted at the tan boy. "It's ugly and it looks stupid and I was gonna show it to papa and show that dumb Yifan who's better and now you ruined it!" He wailed, shouting and sobbing as loudly as possible, his tears and snot mixed together as he grabbed his now ruined drawing and ran off.

"Sehun-ah!"

No no no. No way. How could he lose him now?

"Sehun-ah! Where are you?!"

He was just there! He was running with him and then - he was gone. Just like that.

Stay with the group, his teacher's voice had echoed in his mind but the thrill of walking around on their own was too exciting to pass up! Jongin and Sehun had the bright idea of slipping away unnoticed (and unnoticed they were), laughing as they ran through the halls and looked at the various sights in the museum.

They'd been running away from some security guards after they snuck in an exhibit, laughing and shouting. Last he remembered Sehun was holding his hand. He couldn't even remember when they were separated.

Ugh, this was so annoying. He couldn't have gone far, though.

"Sehunnie, where are you?" he called out, wandering around the area for his lost friend. He tried to retrace his steps, walking past familiar landmarks, asking a few people if they've seen a kid who wore his hat backwards, carrying a stuffed toy. Despite the negative answers he received, he spurred on, increasingly getting worried.

Where are you, Sehun-ah?

He finally saw him, crouched in front of a wall, hugging his bent knees towards him. Relief washed over Jongin, bright smile on his face.

"Sehunnie! This is where you were!"

Despite the reprimanding tone, there was a mix of happiness as he rushed over to where Sehun sat. As he came closer, however, he immediately noticed something was wrong.

Sniff.

Ugh, he hated it whenever Sehun cried. The other boy rarely cries (in front of him), because he always tries to act tough even when Jongin can see there was something clearly wrong. And right now, it must have been something big if Sehun was crying in a public space.

Jongin sat down beside him, placing a small hand on his back. "Hey, Sehunnie. Why are you crying? Did you hurt yourself?"

Sehun shook his head. "Only the weak cry because of that," he muttered, before raising his head. Sehun wiped his face with his hand, Jongin wiping some parts that Sehun missed (ew) as Sehun slowly calmed down. Jongin kept silent as Sehun fiddled with the hem of his shorts.

"I lost Perry." Finally came Sehun's voice. Sehun bit his lower lip again, desperately trying not to cry as the memory of the realization that he lost his precious stuffed toy came back to him.

"Hey, hey, don't worry, I'm sure your dad'll buy you -"

If it was possible to be murdered by a look, Sehun's would do the trick. Jongin quickly ate his words ... moreso when the glare disappeared, fierce look replaced by one of dejection and disappointment and sadness -

Oh god.

The tears fell again and this time accompanied by a loud wail. Panicking, Jongin did the only thing that came to mind: he hurriedly wrapped his arms around Sehun.

That certainly shut up Sehun, whose wailing died down. He was still hiccupping though, as Jongin (awkwardly) pat his back.

"We'll look for it."

"I already looked for it."

Jongin pulled away, keeping his hands on Sehun's shoulders as the other looked up at him, obviously without an inch of belief in Jongin's words.

"Two's better than one, you know. We'll look for it together!"

Sehun kept silent, before looking down at his lap.

"But what if we can't find it?"

"We'll find it!"

Sehun wasn't entirely convinced but he nodded anyway, a small smile on his face. When Jongin saw that, he lit up, pulling away from Sehun as he pushed himself on his feet. Sehun was just about to stand when he noticed a small palm extended towards him.

"Don't let go this time, alright?"

Sniff, sniff.

Was he really supposed to be hiding? Jongin could spot his blond head sticking out from the bushes. He sighed, before quietly approaching the said bush, peeking behind it -

And there he was. Oh Sehun with that drawing extended in front of him. A frown was on his face, eyebrows in a knot as the tears fell down his puffy cheeks. Jongin could see him mumbling things (he could only make out 'dumb' and 'ugly' and he was pretty sure he wasn't talking about the drawing).

"Hey."

Sehun jumped and fell on his butt, looking up at the person who dared intrude his space. As soon as Sehun saw it was Jongin, his face instantly showed his anger, eyes narrowing at the other boy.

"What do you want?!"

"I was just … passing by."

Sehun didn't believe him.

"Alright, alright. I came to … say sorry." Jongin mumbled the last part as he looked down at the ground. How embarrassing.

"… I don't accept it."

The blond huffed, still glaring at Jongin from his position on the ground. It was Jongin's turn to get angry. He was already apologizing!

"Why not?! I said I was sorry!"

"You ruined my drawing!"

"I didn't ruin it, I fixed it!"

"It didn't need fixing!"

"There's no such thing as a pink sun!"

"It's my sun and I can color it what I want!"

"Ugh, you're so stupid! Your dad would think it's stupid!"

That shut up Sehun. The tough glare he had on slowly broke, however, as tears started to fall from his eyes and ugh, why did he have to keep crying?

"Papa … papa - (hic) papa would like my drawing! Papa would like anything I make!"

This kid had some deep emotional attachment to his dad, that's for sure.

"Y-yeah, I mean I'm sure he'd say he liked It, even if it's stupid-looking -"

Sehun wailed even louder. Way to go, Kim Jongin.

"I mean, he's your dad, he'd like anything you make because he loves you so much! I'm sure of it!"

The wailing died down slowly, and Jongin could feel relief wash over him. Thank god, he was calming down.

"Do you really think so?" A small voice asked, Sehun looking up at Jongin with hope in his eyes. "He'd like my drawing more than he likes Yifan?"

Jongin didn't know who this Yifan guy was, but something told him to just nod and agree. "Yeah, of course! Kids are always number one to their dads." And for extra measure - "Yifan sucks, anyway."

Sehun's entire face lit up at that last statement, a bright smile on his face. His eyes curved into crescents and wow yeah, Sehun could actually be pretty cute, if he wasn't so stuck-up and a pain in the butt.

"Yeah, Yifan sucks." Sehun chuckled.

This guy wasn't so bad, after all. Jongin looked back at the building, before looking down at Sehun still on the ground. With a smile, he extended his hand, palms up. "Come on, let's go back to class. It's almost snack time."

With a nod, Sehun took Jongin's hand, the latter helping pull him up to his feet. One hand clutched the drawing, the other clutched around the (barely) older boy's hand.

Sehun didn't let go the entire afternoon.
