Mother's Day

A few years ago I sent my  mother this on mother's day:

Dear Mama,

Mother's Day was a bit depressig for me this year.  I wish I would get to be a mother already!  I miss you very much and I can't wait to see you in a few short weeks.  I love you mamale!  Happy Mother's Day!

I honestly meant to comment on this earlier. I've taught Billy Collins and his Lanyard often, but I've never considered a mother's response to the gift.

I have to say that the image of your mom tying a hypothetical lanyard in her hair while giving you a bath has stuck with me since I read this.

It's beautiful.
