I realized the other day that I never posted any pictures of the Mayfair, where Dan and I stayed the night of the wedding. It is such a beautiful hotel, and I never knew it! It feels like the old Coconut Grove, before all the yuppies moved in. Dan and I spent an hour after check out wandering around the hotel, taking pictures.
There were cool metallic pieces of art everywhere; this one was on our balcony. Next to our hot tub. Oh yeah. We had a hot tub.
The elevator doors were pretty cool, too -- very elaborate.
We stayed on the top floor of the hotel, and this is what we saw when we opened the door to our suite:
If you prefer stairs, you can take this winding staircase all the way to the lush, indoor lobby:
Where there are fountains:
And flowers galore:
And I loved seeing the palm trees of all sorts everywhere. Its silly, but I've missed the sheer tropicalness of them:
If you ever get the chance, go there with someone you love. Its a great deal for what you get -- every room is a suite -- and the staff is excellent, the service is fantastic, and its so peaceful. It was the perfect place to spend our wedding night. I hate Miami in general; a month ago, I'd have said that the only thing that would bring me back to visit are my friends. But now I can add the Mayfair to that list. I wish Dan and I had discovered it earlier, because it would be perfect for a nice, long, lazy, romantic weekend.
